How to get it

The dwarf paladin's own mount (the ordinary dwarf, not the Dark Iron dwarf, who has the Darkforge Ram). A dwarf paladin gets it without a quest, trainer or vendor: it appears in the journal when the character reaches level 10, and a Class Trial dwarf paladin has it on first login. So making a dwarf paladin is all it takes.

Before you go

  • A dwarf paladin of level 10 or more: a Class Trial dwarf paladin has the mount in the journal on its first login; one made the ordinary way gets it on reaching level 10, an hour to an hour and a half of levelling · about 0.1 h

In all: about 0.1 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

There is nowhere to travel for this one.

Notes and sources

The journal files it under quests and says only 'Paladin'; there is no quest and no item. No place is given because there is nowhere to travel for the mount, and no guide is linked: there are no steps beyond making the character.

Wowhead's tooltip for the spell (270564, Summon Dawnforge Ram) says Requires Paladin, Faction: Alliance, and its spell page lists the race as Dwarf beside two internal entries (race ids 75 and 76). The mount came with patch 8.0.1; before that, dwarf paladins used the human paladin's horse (2018 comment).

Which dwarf: a 2025 reply warns against making a Dark Iron dwarf, whose own ram is the Darkforge Ram (spell 270562). Comments of 2020 say a Dark Iron dwarf paladin could ride both; that does not make the Dark Iron dwarf a way to earn this one. A 2019 comment says a paladin of another race cannot ride it even when a dwarf on the account has unlocked it, so on a collector's account it counts in the journal but is ridden only by dwarf paladins.

The level is the one thing the sources disagree on:

  • the wiki's page for the spell: 'learned automatically at level 20'
  • the wiki's page on paladin mounts: paladins 'automatically learn a race-specific mount ... at level 10'
  • the players' reports of 2025 and 2026 agree with level 10

Earlier accounts had the Class Trial character do a few opening quests (2020: 'after a few quests', 5-10 minutes) or hearth out of the starting area (2020, +53); by 2025 'You start in stormwind and already have the mount when you log in'.

Not established: whether the mount stays in the collection if the Class Trial character is deleted or its trial runs out (the Darkforge Ram's notes have a 2024 report that the Dark Iron ram does stay), and whether a dwarf paladin made by race change or level boost gets it the same way, though nothing suggests otherwise. Wowhead says 8% of profiles have the mount.

Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
