Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Sold as the Horn of the Swift Timber Wolf by Ogunaro Wolfrunner, the kennel master by the Hunter's Hall in Orgrimmar's Valley of Honor, for 10 gold. Orcs buy it outright; every other Horde race has to be Exalted with Orgrimmar first.
Time there about 1 min a visit
Before you go
- Exalted with Orgrimmar (orcs skip this): the Orgrimmar Tabard, sold by Stone Guard Nargol on the Orgrimmar Skyway, turns dungeon reputation into theirs; quests in Durotar, Azshara, the Barrens and Stonetalon Mountains and the city's fishing and cooking dailies pay it too · about 3.5 h
- 10 gold
In all: about 3.5 h of play, 10 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Orgrimmar 61 35.2 - Fly there
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal.
Notes and sources
Horde characters only. The journal leaves out the reputation. The wiki has it on the vendor's page ('only orcs can buy by default; other characters must be exalted with Orgrimmar', with what he says to anyone who is neither) and on the Orgrimmar faction page (edited 2026: at Exalted 'non-Orc Horde races are able to purchase and ride Wolf mounts').
No patch that lifted the requirement was found; search summaries of wow.gg's wolf pages still state it (those pages were not opened). It was not confirmed in the game, and whether a Mag'har orc counts as an orc for him is undocumented (as the Timber Wolf's notes found). The reputation time is zero on an orc and on a character that is already Exalted.
The same vendor sells the other wolves on the same terms: 1 gold for the plain ones, 10 gold for the swift ones.
The coordinates are the ones read from Wowhead's tooltip for him for the Timber Wolf and the Brown Wolf (61.0-61.6, 33.8-35.6), not read again; the wiki gives 61, 35 on his page and 61.6, 35.6 on the faction's. The wiki puts Stone Guard Nargol at 50.0, 58.4 by the flight master and does not give the tabard's price (10 silver in the notes for the Timber Wolf and the Brown Wolf).
The item asks for level 17 and Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1 and binds when picked up (wiki).
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
