How to get it

Rare drop (the item Underrot Crawg Harness) from the Unbound Abomination, last boss of The Underrot, on Mythic. The journal's second source, the Challenger's Cache, is the end chest of a Mythic+ run and only counts in a season whose rotation has the dungeon; Midnight Season 2 does not.

Chance 0.41% once a week, so about 244 tries on average — Wowhead: 546 mounts in 132,843 recorded Mythic loots of the Unbound Abomination (0.41%; read 2026-10-10). The 0.16% in Wowhead's tooltip is 542 in 337,016 loots pooled over every difficulty, Normal and Heroic included, where the mount cannot drop. For the keystone end chest, which does not count this season, Wowhead has 717 in 118,187 loots of Challenger's Cache (0.61%) and 46 in 6,662 for a second, newer cache object (0.69%). The Rarity addon lists 1 in 200 (0.5%); Blizzard never published a figure

Getting there

The Underrot entrance, Nazmir
Nazmir · 51.1, 64.3
/way Nazmir 51.1 64.3
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Boralus*
  2. Take the to Wind's Redemption to Nazmir*
  3. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.6 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Zuldazar*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Only Mythic counts: a 2026 comment tells of 250 runs on Normal before finding that out. About 245 kills are expected at 0.41%.

One attempt per character per week: Mythic dungeons outside the current season's rotation keep the weekly lockout (the wiki, as quoted for the Marrowfang; a 2025 Wowhead reply says the same of this dungeon). The Midnight Season 2 rotation (wiki) leaves out The Underrot, so its end chest is not a source now:

  • Voidscar Arena
  • The Blinding Vale
  • Murder Row
  • Den of Nalorakk
  • Altar of Fangs
  • Ruby Life Pools
  • Temple of Sethraliss
  • Kings' Rest

The time on the spot follows a 2025 Wowhead comment: the other three bosses can be passed by, the run goes straight to the last boss, and the NPC who appears in the boss's room after the kill sends the character back to the entrance, about 3 minutes a character from logging in. Five minutes is an estimate around that, and whether the earlier bosses can still be passed by in Midnight was not confirmed.

Comments from the Collector's Bounty event of July 2025, when drop chances were raised, report it after 38, 85, 87 and 121 kills; one of 2026 is at 142 kills without it. Wowhead also records the mount in the Unclaimed Black Market Container (1 in 405), which is not a way of earning it.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
