Notes and sources
The journal and Wowhead's tooltip both read 'Cost: 2000', which is out of date: that was the price in Honor Points from patch 4.0.1 until patch 7.0.3 made it 15 Marks of Honor (wiki). Marks are bound to the Warband (wiki, as noted for this guide's other war mounts), so they can be earned on any character and spent by an Alliance one.
Wowhead's sold-by list has two sellers, each at 15 of item 137642, the Mark of Honor: Thanthaldis Snowgleam in the Hillsbrad Foothills, and Gaelden Hammersmith inside the Alterac Valley battleground, on the first floor of the Dun Baldar South bunker (a 2020 comment). Players confirm the Hillsbrad vendor: one bought it from him for 15 marks in 2020, another in 2023 without queueing for the battleground.
Thanthaldis Snowgleam's coordinates are Wowhead's tooltip for him (44.6, 46.4-46.6); a 2012 comment names the spot The Headlands at 44, 46, and the wiki's infobox still files him under Alterac Mountains.
Exalted with the Stormpike Guard is asked only in Classic (wiki); the item's tooltip today asks for Apprentice Riding and nothing else, and comments since 2013 say there is no reputation requirement.
One thing to watch: during WoW's Anniversary he is replaced by a time-displaced version of himself with a different stock (wiki). Comments from 2019 to 2020 found the mount missing from him then; a 2020 comment says the Hillsbrad vendor was put right. Whether the mount stays on sale through the 2026 Anniversary was not checked.
The Horde's twin is the Frostwolf Howler. A 2012 comment says that since patch 5.1 an account with the Horde's mount has this one on its Alliance characters as well; that was not checked against the game. The Stormpike Battle Ram of the Anniversary's Korrak's Revenge is a different mount (its Horde twin is the Frostwolf Snarler).
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
