Random end-of-run reward from an Island Expedition when makrura, murlocs, naga or saurok are on the island.
Chance 1% per try, so about 100 tries on average — upper bound from guides ('at or under 1%'); no measured figure: Wowhead (read 2026-10-10) records no count for the end-of-run reward, which is not looted from anything
Time there about 10 min a visit
Before you go
- Island Expeditions unlocked on the account (Horde war campaign footholds + tutorial island) · about 2 h
In all: about 2 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Dazar'alor 44.6 95.4 - Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Zuldazar*
- Fly the rest of the way
The place differs by faction and has not been looked up for the Alliance.
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The island is random, and only some islands qualify. One run is about 10 minutes, repeatable without limit. The item binds when picked up.
Wowhead records a second source, not described here: the island Salvage crates of patch 8.3, sold for Seafarer's Dubloons by Captain Kitt (Horde) and Captain Nightrunner (Alliance). Surf Jelly was in:
- 20 of 434 recorded openings of Whispering Reef Salvage (4.6%; 120 Dubloons a crate)
- 11 of 355 of Verdant Wilds Salvage (3.1%)
- 13 of 527 of Molten Cay Salvage (2.5%)
- 8 of 654 of Skittering Hollow Salvage (1.2%)
- 2 of 957 of Snowblossom Salvage (0.2%)
- 2 of 1,209 of Dread Chain Salvage (0.2%)
A 2019 Wowhead comment says three crate types are on sale at a time and change weekly; the crates were not looked into further.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
