Drops from Knight-Captain Aldrin, a rare of the League of Arathor at Dabyrie's Farmstead in the Battle for Azeroth version of Arathi Highlands. Only Horde characters can fight him, and he is only there while the Horde holds the zone in the Battle for Stromgarde warfront cycle. The Alliance has Doomrider Helgrim and the Highland Mustang instead.

Guides Wowhead: Rewards from the Arathi Highlands Warfront · Conquest Capped: Broken Highland Mustang
Before you go
- A Horde character of level 50 or more, with Zidormi at 38.2, 90.0 showing the present-day Arathi Highlands · about 0.1 h
- The Horde holding Arathi Highlands: Aldrin is not there while the Alliance holds the zone, so the visit has to wait for the warfront to change hands. The zone map shows who holds it
In all: about 0.1 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Arathi Highlands 49 40 - Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Undercity*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Aldrin is up only while the Horde controls Arathi. Wowhead's guide and conquestcapped give 49.0, 40.0, comments 49.27, 40.05, and Wowhead's tooltip has twelve points between 47.4-49.6 and 37.6-41.6. A 2021 comment says he appears once the stable at 48.35, 38.71 and the patrols on the road are cleared, and saw him three times in 20 minutes; conquestcapped gives a respawn of 5 to 10 minutes. He is level 51 and no longer elite since patch 8.1 (wiki).
The lockout is not a calendar week: he can be looted once per warfront control period, and that resets when Arathi changes hands. As he is only up under Horde control, that is one try each time the Horde takes the zone. The sources:
- Wowhead's guide: rares reset once your faction takes control of Stromgarde
- its best-rated comment (2018): after each faction control switch
- conquestcapped: once per warfront cycle, tied to the cycle and not to a daily or weekly reset
Per character or per account is disputed and not settled. Comments of 2018 and 2024 and conquestcapped say once per character, so several Horde characters of level 50 give several tries. A 2026 reply reports the opposite: loot on the first character and nothing on five more characters on five other realms the same day, and concludes it is one chance per account per change of hands.
Which side's control brings him out is contradicted once: a 2018 comment says he spawns while the Alliance controls the zone. Other comments of 2018 and 2023, the 2026 reply and conquestcapped all say Horde control, and this guide follows them. Conquestcapped adds that he is there only in the Patrol phase of the cycle (not while the Alliance is contributing or the warfront is being fought) and never for Alliance characters; no second source was found for the phase.
About 15 kills are expected at 6.66%; comments report it on the first kill and after 23. The item also teaches the Alliance's Highland Mustang (a 2018 Wowhead comment, wiki), so one drop fills both journal entries; whether the reverse holds was not looked up. A 2024 comment says the Heart of Azeroth is not needed for the mount to drop: a level 71 character that had never entered Battle for Azeroth got the Highland Mustang.
Guides: Wowhead's is of 2018, last edited 2019. It marks Aldrin as Horde only with his waypoint and explains the loot reset, but says nothing on when he is up and still describes contributions and level 120. Conquest Capped's (updated 2026) is written for this mount and also sells a boosting service. wow.gg has no page for this mount.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
