Highland Mustang

Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Drops from Doomrider Helgrim, a Forsaken rare at Go'Shek Farm in the Battle for Azeroth version of Arathi Highlands. Only Alliance characters can fight him, and he is only there while the Alliance holds the zone in the Battle for Stromgarde warfront cycle. The Horde has Knight-Captain Aldrin and the Broken Highland Mustang instead.
Chance 6.8% once a week, so about 15 tries on average — Wowhead: 7,825 mounts in 115,070 recorded loots of Doomrider Helgrim (item page read 2026-10-11); counts are per looting player
Time there about 3 min a visit
Before you go
- An Alliance character of level 50 or more, with Zidormi at 38.2, 90.0 showing the present-day Arathi Highlands · about 0.1 h
- The Alliance holding Arathi Highlands: Helgrim is not there while the Horde holds the zone, so the visit has to wait for the warfront to change hands. The zone map shows who holds it
In all: about 0.1 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Arathi Highlands 54 57 - Take the portal from Eastern Earthshrine to Twilight Highlands*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The Alliance's twin of the Broken Highland Mustang, whose findings on the warfront cycle are taken over here and were not researched again. Helgrim is up only under Alliance control. The waypoint in Wowhead's best-rated comment is 53.97, 56.96, and Wowhead's tooltip for him (npc 142741) has eight points between 52.4-54.6 and 56.0-58.6; the wiki names Go'Shek Farm. He is level 51 by Wowhead (50 on the wiki) and no longer elite since patch 8.1 (wiki).
The lockout is not a calendar week: Helgrim can be looted once per character per warfront control period, and that resets when Arathi changes hands. As he is only up under Alliance control, that is one try each time the Alliance takes the zone. The sources:
- Wowhead's best-rated comment (2018): after each faction control switch
- a 2024 comment: once per character, per warfront cycle
- a 2023 reply to a player who killed him over 50 times in a row for nothing: once per character per warfront window, 'basically, once every 2 weeks'
- conquestcapped
The Broken Highland Mustang's notes have one 2026 reply claiming one chance per account rather than per character for Aldrin; nothing on this mount's page says so. Conquestcapped adds that Helgrim is there only in the Patrol phase of the cycle and never for Horde characters; no second source was found for the phase.
About 15 kills are expected at 6.8%; comments report it within 5 kills, and that it can drop again for someone who has it. The item also teaches the Horde's Broken Highland Mustang (wiki; Wowhead's best-rated comment, 2018), and the Broken Highland Mustang's notes have the reverse, so one drop from either rare fills both journal entries. A 2024 comment says the Heart of Azeroth is not needed: a level 71 character that had never entered Battle for Azeroth got this mount. A 2022 reply says the mounts do not drop on a character for whom the warfront rares do not show as rares.
Conquestcapped's page for this mount puts him at Dabyrie's Farmstead, 49.0, 40.0, which is where its own page and Wowhead put Knight-Captain Aldrin, so it is not linked as a guide. Wowhead's guide is of 2018, last edited 2019 (as read for the Broken Highland Mustang, not opened again): it lists the warfront rares with waypoints and explains the loot reset, but still describes contributions and level 120. The reins ask for level 10 (wiki).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
