How to get it

Sold by Necrolord Sipe, the Combatant Mount Quartermaster in Old Town, Stormwind City, for 1 Vicious Saddle. A saddle is earned in rated PvP: wins at 1,000 rating or more fill the Season Rewards bar; the first full bar of a season gives that season's own vicious mount, and every further full bar in the same season gives a Vicious Saddle.

Time there about 1 min a visit

Guide wow.gg: Vicious War Ram (the same saddle and vendor)

Before you go

  • This season's vicious mount first: reach 1,000 rating (Combatant) in a rated bracket and fill the Season Rewards bar once (2,400 points: 40 wins in rated battlegrounds, 80 wins in 3v3 or 240 in 2v2) · about 20 h
  • 1 Vicious Saddle: fill the Season Rewards bar a second time in the same season · about 20 h

In all: about 40 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal.

Notes and sources

The journal's 'Cost: 1' is one Vicious Saddle. The wiki's pages for the mount, the saddle and the vendor say so (the vendor's page, edited 2026, has it in his stock), and Wowhead's sold-by list (2026) has Necrolord Sipe alone at a cost of 1. A 2021 reply on Wowhead's item page reports buying it from him with a stored saddle.

It was the reward of Battle for Azeroth Season 2, then earned at 1,400 rating; it went out with that season in patch 8.2.0 and has been on the saddle vendor since patch 9.1.0 (29 June 2021; wiki).

Buying it also gives the Horde counterpart, the Vicious Black Bonesteed: a 2022 Wowhead comment says the writer's Horde characters received it, and a 2023 comment on Wowhead's saddle guide says the same of vicious mounts in general. So an account that already has the Bonesteed may find this one learned.

Saddles can only be earned while a rated PvP season is running: the wiki's page for Midnight Season 2 (edited 2026) gives its start as 18 August 2026 and its end as ongoing; its own mount is the Vicious Lightbloom Boar. The wiki's wording for the saddle: one 'each time the Rated PvP progress bar is filled to 100%' after the current seasonal mount has been earned, and since patch 8.0.1 a character can earn several in a season. Progress toward a saddle is lost when a new season starts (Wowhead's guide). wow.gg adds that saddles can still be earned after a season ends with a rating of 1,400 or more from that season; nothing else read confirms that.

The saddle binds when picked up (wiki), so the character that filled the bar is the one that visits the vendor; the mount item binds to the Warband and lists only Alliance races (Wowhead). Neither guide gives a win count for Solo Shuffle or Battleground Blitz; the bar on the Rated tab of the PvP window shows the progress.

Wowhead has a guide of its own, Vicious Saddle Mounts from WoW PvP, but it was last updated in 2020: it still asks for 1,400 rating and lists this mount as not yet on sale, so it is given as a source for the points per win and not linked as a guide. The guide linked is written for the Vicious War Ram and does not name this mount, but the way to a saddle and the vendor are the same.

The wiki has the mount at level 17 with Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1; Wowhead shows level 1 and Apprentice Riding. Coordinates are the wiki's; Wowhead's tooltip for the vendor, as read for the Vicious White Warsaber, has 76.8, 65.4 and 76.8, 65.6.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
