How to get it

Sold by Deathguard Netharian, the Combatant Mount Quartermaster in the Valley of Strength, Orgrimmar, for 1 Vicious Saddle. A saddle is earned in rated PvP while a season is running: wins at 1,000 rating (Combatant) or more fill the Season Rewards bar; the first full bar of a season gives that season's own vicious mount, and every further full bar in the same season gives a Vicious Saddle.

Time there about 2 min a visit

Guide wow.gg: Vicious War Raptor (the same saddle and vendor)

Before you go

  • This season's vicious mount first: reach 1,000 rating in a rated bracket and fill the Season Rewards bar once (roughly 40 wins in Battleground Blitz or rated battlegrounds, 80 wins in 3v3 or 240 in 2v2) · about 20 h
  • 1 Vicious Saddle: fill the Season Rewards bar a second time in the same season · about 20 h

In all: about 40 h of play, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

The journal's 'Cost: 1' is one Vicious Saddle: the wiki's page for the mount (edited 2026) says it is bought for 1 Vicious Saddle from the Horde vendor Deathguard Netharian in Orgrimmar. He stands next to Raider Bork; the coordinates are the wiki's (42.0, 73.8), and Wowhead's tooltip for him (npc 73151) has 41.8, 73.0, 42.0, 72.4 and 42.0, 73.8.

It was the Horde reward of Battle for Azeroth Season 2, then earned by rated wins at 1,400 rating or more, and has been on the saddle vendor since patch 9.1.0 (29 June 2021; wiki). Added in patch 8.1.0. A ground mount; the wiki has it at level 17 with Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1. The mount item binds to the Warband (Wowhead's tooltip, as stored for this guide).

The Alliance counterpart is the Vicious Black Warsaber, sold by Necrolord Sipe in Stormwind. Its notes have a 2022 Wowhead comment saying Horde characters received the Bonesteed when the Warsaber was bought, so an account that already has the Warsaber may find this one learned; the wiki's page for this mount does not say it.

Everything about the saddle, the vendor's place and the running season is taken from this guide's Vicious Black Warsaber and Vicious White Bonesteed (read in 2026) and was not read again:

  • saddles can only be earned while a rated PvP season is running; the wiki's page for Midnight Season 2 (edited 2026) had it running since 18 August 2026, its own mount being the Vicious Lightbloom Boar at Combatant rank (1,000 rating)
  • the wiki has one saddle 'each time the Rated PvP progress bar is filled to 100% after the current seasonal mount has been earned'
  • the saddle binds when picked up and the vendor is a Horde one, so the bar has to be filled on a Horde character
  • unfinished progress on the bar is lost when a season ends (wow.gg)

wow.gg's page is about the Vicious War Raptor and does not name this mount, but describes the same saddle and vendor. Wowhead's own guide, Vicious Saddle Mounts from WoW PvP, is not linked: as found for the Vicious Black Warsaber, it was last updated in 2020 and still asks for 1,400 rating. No Wowhead page was opened for this mount.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
