Drops from Alash'anir, a rare elite chimaera on the cliff by the whirlpool north-east of Bashal'Aran, in the Battle for Azeroth version of Darkshore. Characters of either side can kill and loot her whichever side holds the Darkshore warfront, but each character gets only one looted kill per turn of the warfront.
Chance 5.57% once a week, so about 18 tries on average — Wowhead: 4,684 mounts in 84,132 recorded loots of Alash'anir (the item's tooltip shows 5.57%)

Getting there
/way Darkshore 56.4 30.8 - Take the portal from Stormwind to Darnassus*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Western Earthshrine to Mount Hyjal
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Alash'anir can be looted by either side, whoever holds the zone: Wowhead comments of 2018 ('drops from Alashanir regardless who controls the zone'; a Horde character looted the mount while the Alliance had control) and both 2026 guides. That sets her apart from the Darkshore rares that belong to one side and are there only on that side's turn (this guide's Umber Nightsaber). Loot is per character (2025 comment), so every further character of level 50 is one more try per turn.
Coordinates are Wowhead's pins (56.4, 30.8; 56.6, 30.4; 56.6, 30.8); the wiki has 56.6, 30.8 and the comments' waypoint is 56.4, 30.7. She is a level 52 rare elite, added in patch 8.1.0.
The lockout is not a calendar week: each character gets one looted kill per turn of the Darkshore warfront, so 'weekly' understates the wait. Wowhead comments on Alash'anir:
- the best-rated one (2018) says the Darkshore rares 'can be looted once per Warfront cycle'
- comments of 2022, 2023 and 2024 found her giving no loot at all on later kills, daily and weekly resets included
- replies of 2023 say it used to be once a day
- a 2025 reply says the loot comes back when control of Darkshore passes to the other side, whichever side the character plays
The wiki gives each side's turn as a 7-day warfront phase plus a contribution phase of no fixed length. How long a turn runs today was not established, and the 2026 guides disagree (wow.gg: control alternates roughly every two weeks; conquestcapped: 3-7 days). About 18 looted kills are expected at 5.57%.
Conquestcapped also says the rares are only there during a 'Patrol phase' and that an opening quest at the warfront table may be needed. No other source has either (the wiki's four phases carry no such name), so neither is counted as a requirement, and whether the Warfronts feature has to be unlocked first was not established.
The guides disagree on how soon she comes back after a kill (conquestcapped 5-10 minutes, wow.gg several hours); with one looted kill per turn it matters only when someone else has just killed her.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
