A reward from Island Expeditions. It can be among the loot handed out when an expedition ends, if moose were on the island, and it is a chance item in the island Salvage crates that Captain Nightrunner (Boralus) and Captain Kitt (Dazar'alor) sell for Seafarer's Dubloons, the currency every expedition pays.
Chance Never published for the end of an expedition (a wow.gg guide guesses about 1%). For the crates Wowhead recorded 92 mounts in 1,873 rare crates (4.9%, 120 Dubloons each) and 177 in 9,352 epic crates (1.9%, 175 Dubloons each).

/way Dazar'alor 44.6 95.4 - Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Zuldazar*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
There are two rolls at one stop: the loot at the end of an expedition, and the crates. The island and its creatures are random, and since patch 8.1 the moose only have to be present, not killed (wiki).
Captain Kitt stands by Rez'okun at 44.4, 94.2. The captains stock three crate types a week, only for islands in that week's rotation; every island crate can hold the mount, the rare ones more often. A wow.gg guide puts the Dubloons from the final chest at 20-60 depending on difficulty, so a rare crate is roughly three to five expeditions, and crates alone come to about 20 per mount on average (an estimate).
The time on the spot is one expedition (wiki: 15-20 minutes when the content was current). The minimum level to queue was not established. Expeditions were hotfixed to queue properly again in June 2026 (wiki).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
