How to get it

Reward of the account-wide achievement Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two: Part One first (the three zone stories of one's own continent, the war campaign, all six zones of Kul Tiras and Zandalar explored, 100 different world quests, and Revered with six Battle for Azeroth factions), then Revered with the Rustbolt Resistance on Mechagon and with the Nazjatar faction of one's side (Waveblade Ankoan or The Unshackled), and Nazjatar and Mechagon explored. It used to be the flying unlock of Battle for Azeroth; flying no longer asks for it, but the mount still does.

Getting there

Rustbolt, Mechagon Island (hub of the Rustbolt Resistance dailies; the rest is spread over Kul Tiras, Zandalar and Nazjatar)
Mechagon Island · 73.1, 29.2
/way Mechagon Island 73.1 29.2
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.7 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Boralus*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.9 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Zuldazar*
  2. Take the sub from Zuldazar to Mechagon*
  3. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

A long project, not a trip. No stop hands the mount over: it is in the collection as soon as the achievement completes (a 2019 Wowhead comment: neither mail nor bags, just the mount list). The place given above is a hub chosen for the route, the Rustbolt waypoint of Wowhead's guide.

Both parts are account-wide and can be pieced together by several characters: a commenter finished everything on a Horde character and the Rustbolt Resistance on an Alliance one (Wowhead's guide and its comments of 2019 and 2020). The guide adds 'as long as they are part of the same faction' for the rest, and the four faction-bound standings of Part One have to be those of one side: four Alliance ones or four Horde ones, not a mix. The requirements listed above cannot show that.

Any account that flew in Battle for Azeroth while it was current already has the achievement. Flying stopped asking for it in patch 10.0.7, and skyriding by a hotfix of 25 July 2024 (wiki). The wiki still gives the mount as the achievement's reward, and Wowhead's current tooltip names the achievement as its source, but no player report later than 2022 was found on Wowhead's page for the item.

The mount is also tied to two vendor mounts: Wowhead's tooltips for the Stormsong Coastwatcher and the Proudmoore Sea Scout carry 'Required achievement: Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two'.

Time: the days of the requirements overlap, since the world quests, emissaries and stories feed several of them at once. From nothing it is something like a month to six weeks, and the hours in the list (about 85) are estimates throughout. The only time read anywhere is Blizzard's of 2019, two to three weeks for the two Part Two standings (Blizzard Watch).

Reputation helps the guides name:

  • a scribe's Contract for one faction (10 more on every Battle for Azeroth world quest)
  • the Darkmoon Faire's 10% buffs
  • the World Quest Bonus Event (50% more from world quests)
  • for the Nazjatar standing, the Abyssal Conch tokens

Patch 12.1.5, announced for 13 October 2026 (Wowhead's news tracker), makes the Battle for Azeroth reputations warband-wide, all thirteen named here among them (Blizzard Watch, 2026); how standings on several characters will be combined had not been said. The Nazjatar introduction asks for level 50 and Friendly with the three zone factions of one's side (as given for the Deepcoral Snapdragon and the Snapdragon Kelpstalker).

Wowhead's Pathfinder guide is a user-submitted guide last updated in 2019, so it still speaks of unlocking flying; its lists of criteria and its exploration waypoints are what it is linked for (a comment corrects one: Western Spray is at 25.8, 66.4). The wiki's page for the Rustbolt Resistance is a stub; Wowhead's own Rustbolt Resistance and Unshackled reputation guides exist but were not read.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
