Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Sold by Artisan Okata in Mezzamere, the Alliance's hub in Nazjatar, for 250 Prismatic Manapearls to a character that is Exalted with the Waveblade Ankoan. The Waveblade Ankoan is the Alliance's Nazjatar faction, so it takes an Alliance character to buy it; once learned, Horde characters of the account can ride it too.

Getting there
/way Nazjatar 37.8 55.6 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Boralus*
- Take the portal from Sanctum of the Sages to Nazjatar*
- Fly the rest of the way
The place differs by faction and has not been looked up for the Horde.
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Alliance only to earn: the Waveblade Ankoan is the Alliance's Nazjatar faction, and the Horde has the Unshackled Waveray instead. The journal does not mark the mount for one side, so no faction is set here and the place given is the Alliance's alone; its twin, the Unshackled Waveray, is marked as Horde.
The best-rated comment on Wowhead's item page (2019) settles what the two share: buying the Ankoan Waveray does not unlock the Unshackled Waveray, but Horde characters find the Ankoan one in their journal and can ride it.
Who sells it: the journal, Wowhead's item page and sold-by list, the wiki and Wowhead's Nazjatar guide (2025) all name Artisan Okata, the Ancient Relics vendor; only the table in Wowhead's older reputation guide puts the mount among the wares of the quartermaster, Speaker Utia (38, 55.7). Both stand in Mezzamere. The coordinates are Wowhead's tooltip for Artisan Okata (NPC 153509: 37.8, 55.6); the wiki gives the same. The item's tooltip asks for 'Waveblade Ankoan - Exalted' and nothing else.
A shortcut the reputation guide and the comments describe: from Revered, Speaker Utia sells the Waveswept Abyssal Conch for 20 Manapearls, 250 reputation each and account-bound, so Manapearls can be turned into standing. It also crosses factions: a Horde character Revered with The Unshackled buys its own conches, mails them to the Alliance character, and they arrive as the Ankoan ones (a 2020 comment, rated 82). A 2025 reply turned 3,000 Manapearls into the rest of the way to Exalted like this, by mail and not through the Warband bank; the receiving character needs the faction opened by the introduction.
Other helps the guide names:
- a scribe's Contract: Ankoan (10 more on every Battle for Azeroth world quest)
- the Darkmoon Faire's 10% buffs
- the World Quest Bonus Event (50% more)
Patch 12.1.5 (13 October 2026) shares Battle for Azeroth reputations across the Warband (the wiki's patch page, which names no factions; Blizzard Watch's list, as given for the Unshackled Waveray, has The Unshackled on it). Until then Exalted is needed on the buying character.
The reputation guide is of 2020 and still speaks of flying being unlocked by the reputation and of level 120 systems, but its list of where the reputation comes from is what it is linked for. The wiki's page for the faction says nothing on how the reputation is earned.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
