How to get it

Reward of Drive It Away Today, the last of twelve quests from Recycler Kerchunk in Rustbolt on Mechagon Island, in which the mechaspider is built part by part. The chain gave one quest a day when it was added; since patch 11.0 players report doing all twelve in one sitting.

Time there about 2 min a visit

Before you go

  • Nazjatar and Mechagon opened: at level 50 the Nazjatar introduction until its world quests open, then The Legend of Mechagon from Tinkmaster Overspark in Boralus or Gazlowe in Dazar'alor and the island's chain as far as Welcome to the Resistance, after which Kerchunk offers Shop Project · about 3 h
  • The twelve quests, in order: Shop Project (a Mechanobot Ignition bought from Cork Stuttguard in Bondo's Yard, a Shellsteel Casing from the Steelplated Hardshells on the east coast, a Multi-Leg Chaindrive from Sparkweaver Ohm), Right Bot for the Job (three dead bots revived and led back), Ready to Rumble (Bondo Bigblock's waves), Knock 'Em Out The Box, A Little Leg Work (4 Mechaspider Legs and 12 Toe Springs from the troggs of Scrapbone Den), The Nuts and Bolts of It, Factory Refurbished (30 Hardened Springs, 10 Tempered Plating and 5 Machined Gear Assemblies from the corroded machines of Junkwatt Depot, put through a recycler), Grease The Wheels (from Grizzek Fizzwrench, who turns up beside Kerchunk; 12 Cog Grease at the Outflow), Emission Free, Test Drive, Knock His Bot Off and Drive It Away Today · about 2.5 h over 1 days
  • The parts the chain asks for: 1,000 Spare Parts handed in for The Nuts and Bolts of It, 20 empty Energy Cells for Emission Free, and for the 500S-Cybergenic Powercore of the last quest, built at Pascal-K1N6 in Rustbolt, 8 S.P.A.R.E. Crates (250 Spare Parts each), 5 Energy Cells and 8 Chain Ignitercoils. Spare Parts drop from nearly everything on the island; Energy Cells and Ignitercoils come from the island's rares and Mechanized Chests · about 1.5 h
  • 50 gold for the Mechanobot Ignition

In all: about 7 h of play, spread over 1 days, 50 gold, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Recycler Kerchunk, Rustbolt
Mechagon Island · 71.5, 38.8
/way Mechagon Island 71.5 38.8
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.7 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Boralus*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1.9 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Zuldazar*
  2. Take the sub from Zuldazar to Mechagon*
  3. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The journal names only the last quest. Finishing the chain also gives the achievement Making the Mount (wiki).

Sources differ on the one-a-day limit; the time given here follows the players' reports:

  • the wiki's quest pages ('You can only do one quest per day', a '12-day quest chain') and Wowhead's Mechagon guide (updated 2024, 'You can do one quest a day') describe the chain as it was added in patch 8.2
  • a 2024 Wowhead comment did the first seven on one day in Dragonflight, and its replies of 2024 finished the whole chain in a day after patch 11.0
  • the two 2026 guides agree with the players

Grizzek Fizzwrench is not always standing there: a 2024 reply found him missing and then saw him appear; another gives 71, 32 for him. Kerchunk's coordinates are the two guides' (71.5, 38.8 and 71.4, 38.6) and were not checked against Wowhead.

The Mechagon introduction is per character (Wowhead's guide). That guide also names an account-level condition for the Nazjatar introduction, Friendly with the faction's three Battle for Azeroth zone reputations on one character, marked there with an asterisk whose footnote was not read.

wow.gg's guide gives the same steps under names that differ from the game's (it calls Kerchunk 'Recycler Sparkbang' and the first quest 'A Quest for the Workshop'), so the wiki's names are used here. ConquestCapped is a boosting seller's site, and its guide was used only for the steps. The mount asks for level 10, binds when picked up and has flown since patch 9.2 (wiki, Wowhead tooltip and comments).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
