How to get it

Sold by Mrrl, the murloc trader at the faction's hub in Nazjatar (Mezzamere for the Alliance, Newhome for the Horde), for 4 Cultist Pinky Fingers, 2 Pulsating Blood Stones and 1 Hungry Herald's Tentacle Taco. It is in his hidden stock, shown only to a character wearing the Azsh'ari Stormsurger Cape, and only on some days, about twice a month. The fingers and stones are traded up on the day from goods that the four murlocs beside him sell for a gold apiece; the taco is bought ahead from Murloco, who has to be freed in his cave first.

Guides Wowhead: Mrrl's Trading Game and Obtaining Crimson Tidestallion · Blizzard Watch: How to get the Crimson Tidestallion mount and where to find Murloco

Before you go

  • Nazjatar reached and its hub opened: Send the Fleet from Genn Greymane in Boralus or Nathanos Blightcaller in Dazar'alor and the introduction after it, through A Tempered Blade (Alliance) or Save A Friend (Horde), the quest before Mrrl's · about 1.5 h
  • Mrrl brought home: the quest A Safer Place, walking him from Dragon's Teeth Basin (48.1, 45.3) to the hub, then No Backs, which has one thing bought from each of his four relatives and makes him a vendor · about 0.5 h
  • An Azsh'ari Stormsurger Cape, worn at Mrrl, at the other murlocs and at Murloco: one of the four cloaks a Benthic Cloak token can turn into. The token costs 5 Prismatic Manapearls from Artisan Itanu in Mezzamere or Finder Palta in Newhome; the pearls come from Nazjatar's quests, world quests, rares and chests · about 1 h
  • Hungry Herald's Tentacle Taco, 666 gold from Murloco in Murloco's Hideaway (46.3, 32.6). He is only there some of the time, caged by two naga; killing them and the waves that follow frees him, and he sells for five minutes before leaving for a few hours. The taco does not expire, so it is bought before the mount comes up · about 1 h
  • Mrrl has the mount in his hidden stock that day: about two days a month · 2 weeks
  • The trades of the day: 1,130 gold of base goods (714 Slimy Naga Eyeballs from Mrrglrlr, 288 Unidentified Masses from Flrgrrl and 128 Sweet Sea Vegetables from Hurlgrl, a gold each), traded up among the four murlocs into the 4 Cultist Pinky Fingers and 2 Pulsating Blood Stones. All of it lasts one day of real time, so none is bought before the mount is seen on sale · about 0.3 h

In all: about 4.3 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, 1,796 gold, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

The journal's 'Cost: 4 2 1' is the three trade goods: Wowhead's vendor list has 4 of item 169783 (Cultist Pinky Finger), 2 of 169780 (Pulsating Blood Stone) and 1 of 170100 (the taco). Gold in all: 1,796, the wiki's total and the sum of the 666 and the 1,130 here. The hours in the list are estimates throughout.

The chain, as Wowhead's guide and its top comment give it:

  • 504 eyeballs become 168 Curious Murloc Horns (Grrmrlg, 3 for 1), and those 28 Ghost Food (Flrgrrl, 6 for 1)
  • 128 vegetables become 32 Just Regular Butter (Flrgrrl), and those 16 Smelly Piles of Gloop (Mrrglrlr)
  • gloop and ghost food buy the 4 fingers from Hurlgrl
  • 288 masses become 48 Dirty Murloc Socks (Hurlgrl), which are washed by using them while standing in water and become 16 Sea Giant Foot Dust (Grrmrlg)
  • the other 210 eyeballs become 70 horns, and those 14 Healthy Murloc Lunches (Hurlgrl)
  • dust and lunches buy the 2 stones from Mrrglrlr

The epic goods and Mrrl's second item are only shown while the cape is worn, and commenters add that Murloco's taco is too (2026; another of 2026 found him without it and does not say what she wore).

Stock: the guide says twice a month on average; a 2019 commenter says two to four days a month, and one of 2025 checked daily for six weeks. 'Up today' posts of 2026 fall on 16 February, 3, 7 and 16 March, 4 and 9 April, 26 May, 11 and 28 June, 18 July, 3 August and 19 September, across US and EU realms. The posts name a region or a realm (Blizzard Watch in 2019 thought the stock varied by realm), and commenters of 2021 and 2025 saw different stock, and a different Murloco, with War Mode on and off, which is a way to look twice. The mount stays in the rotation after it is bought (a 2023 reply).

Murloco: the wiki puts him at 45, 32, Wowhead's guide at 46.5, 32.7 and commenters at 46.2, 32.6; the figure in the list is from the wiki's page for the mount.

Mrrl's coordinates are from Wowhead's tooltip (39.2, 54.2 and 47.0, 61.4-61.6; the wiki has 39.1, 54.3 and 47.0, 61.6). The four others stand within a few steps (wiki):

  • Hurlgrl: 38.6, 54.5 at Mezzamere; 47.8, 63.0 at Newhome
  • Mrrglrlr: 38.6, 54.5 at Mezzamere; 48.6, 62.6 at Newhome
  • Flrgrrl: 40.0, 53.4 at Mezzamere; 47.0, 62.6 at Newhome
  • Grrmrlg: 37.5, 53.5 at Mezzamere; 47.6, 61.6 at Newhome

Buying the mount gives the achievement Mrrl's Secret Stash, one part of Undersea Usurper (see the Snapback Scuttler). Wowhead's guide dates from 2020 and comments of 2026 still follow it; it links a WeakAura, and commenters link calculators for the day's shopping list. An aquatic mount: fast in water, a plain ground mount out of it (warcraftmounts.com). The item binds when picked up and asks for level 10 (wiki).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
