Sold by the Nazjatar PvP Quartermaster for 150 Nazjatar Battle Commendations, with no reputation asked: Tomas Riogain in Mezzamere for the Alliance, Dazzerian in Newhome for the Horde. The commendations are an item in the bags, earned in Nazjatar with War Mode on: one from every rare elite killed, more from the Battle for Nazjatar that runs every three hours (5 for a win, 2 for a loss), 8 from that battle's quest, and one or two from a War Supply Chest.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- What the Nazjatar introduction asks for: level 50 and the continent's three zone reputations at Friendly (Storm's Wake, the Proudmoore Admiralty and the Order of Embers, or the Voldunai, the Zandalari Empire and Talanji's Expedition) · about 5 h
- The Nazjatar introduction, nine quests down to the faction's camp (The Wolf's Offensive or The Warchief's Order through A Way Home), where the quartermaster stands · about 1.5 h
- 150 Nazjatar Battle Commendations, earned in Nazjatar with War Mode on: 1 from each rare elite killed (a rare pays again on a later kill, even the same day), 5 for a won Battle for Nazjatar and 2 for a lost one once one enemy player has been killed in it, 8 from the quest PvP Event: Battle for Nazjatar, 1 or 2 from a War Supply Chest · about 7 h over 9 days
In all: about 13.5 h of play, spread over 9 days, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources
The journal is out of date on two points. Its Alliance vendor, Crafticus Mindbender, was replaced by Tomas Riogain in patch 9.1.5 (wiki); Wowhead's sold-by list shows Tomas Riogain (NPC 154653, friendly to the Alliance) and Dazzerian (NPC 154652, friendly to the Horde), both titled Nazjatar PvP Quartermaster. And its bare 'Cost: 150' is 150 Nazjatar Battle Commendations, not Prismatic Manapearls. The coordinates are Wowhead's tooltips for the two (38.0, 55.4 and 48.8, 60.8), and the wiki gives the same.
The commendation is an item, not a currency: it fills a bag slot and, by comments of 2020 and 2026, is neither account-bound nor Warbound, so the 150 have to be earned by the character that buys. War Mode is what matters: the hotfix and every comment tie the rares' commendation to having it on.
Rares: the hotfix of 13 May 2020 reads 'Rare elite creatures found in Nazjatar with War Mode enabled now drop 1 Nazjatar Battle Commendation'. Comments of 2020 (+61), 2022 (+39) and 2024 say the same rare pays again each time it is killed, and one of 2023 (+25) lists waypoints for every overworld rare and the supply chest. Wowhead's loot table lists 44 Nazjatar creatures for the item (Soundless 2,986 in 14,985 loots, for one); those counts mix kills with War Mode off and so are no drop rate.
The War Supply Chest: 10,142 commendations in 10,516 recorded openings of one of its object ids and 17,261 in 18,009 of another (Wowhead), so nearly every chest.
The battle (Wowhead's guide): War Mode only, every 3 hours for 45 minutes, five towers to hold. A win pays 5 commendations and 50 Conquest, a loss 2 and 20, and only to a character that has killed one enemy player during it (the buff Eligible for Rewards), which the rares and the quest do not ask. The guide's text gives the winning score once as 3,000 and once as 10,000; a 2019 comment under it says it became 3,000. On a shard where the sides are unbalanced the battle gives way to five naga commanders, who drop commendations too (guide; a 2019 comment says one each). Whether the battle still gathers enough players of both sides to start was not established; the rares do not depend on it.
The quest PvP Event: Battle for Nazjatar pays 8 and can be finished on the enemy's tower guards alone; the guide calls it one-time, while Wowhead's data and a 2021 comment have it weekly.
The wiki's figures for the battle (5-10 for a win, 2 for a loss) match the best-rated Wowhead comment, of the first week of patch 8.2 (2019), and the wiki's score of 1,000 points matches neither the guide nor the comments.
Wowhead's guide is linked for the unlock and the events; it does not mention that rares drop commendations. No dedicated Wowhead guide to the battle was found, only a 2019 news post.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
