How to get it

Rare drop from N'Zoth the Corruptor, the twelfth and last boss of Ny'alotha, the Waking City, on Mythic only; it is in the chest he leaves, the Vault of the Black Empire. The raid is entered through an obelisk that stands above Vir'naal Dam in Uldum one week and above Whitepetal Lake in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms the next, wherever the Black Empire's assault is.

Chance 0.68% once a week, so about 147 tries on average — Wowhead: 107 mounts in 15,644 recorded loots of the Vault of the Black Empire, the chest N'Zoth leaves (read 2026-10-10). N'Zoth himself carries no count, and the chest's count is not split by difficulty, so it may include openings on difficulties where the mount cannot drop. Others cite 1%: the Rarity addon lists 1 in 100 and notes the drop was once guaranteed, wow.gg says 'approximate 1%'; the wiki gives no figure. Players say the roll is one for the whole raid, not one per player (Wowhead comments, July 2025)

Guide wow.gg: Ny'alotha Allseer

Before you go

  • A week when the entrance is in Uldum, where players report any character can use it. In a Vale week the character has to have the Black Empire campaign far enough for Zidormi and the obelisk to show there: by the wiki until Magni offers A Titanic Problem, by players as far as Network Diagnostics, which follows the Battle for Azeroth introduction, the Heart of Azeroth quests and the start of Nazjatar · 7 days

In all: spread over 7 days, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Ny'alotha entrance, obelisk above Vir'naal Dam (in alternate weeks it is above Whitepetal Lake in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms instead, 40.0, 45.5)
Uldum · 55.2, 44
/way Uldum 55.2 44
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.2 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Caverns of Time*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.2 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Caverns of Time*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

One attempt per character per week. Both entrances are from the game's own table: Uldum 55.2, 44.0 (worked out from the table's world position, since the table files it under the patch 8.3 copy of Uldum) and the Vale 40.0, 45.5 on the present-day Vale map. wow.gg gives 54.0, 43.0 and 39.0, 43.0.

Which of the two it is in a given week was not established beyond players' reports that it alternates; the place given is Uldum because that week asks nothing of the character.

Zidormi (Ramkahen in Uldum; Mogu'shan Palace in the Vale, at 80.4, 32.0 by a comment) switches a zone to the time in which the obelisk exists. The legendary cloak is no longer needed to enter or to fight N'Zoth outside Raid Finder (wiki; comments of 2024-2025).

The time on the spot is wow.gg's 30-40 minutes for a full clear of the twelve bosses, a figure it gives for level 80. The raid's skip shortens that to 10-15 minutes: Ny'alotha: MOTHER's Guidance, from Wrathion at the start, asks for four Mythic kills of the Carapace of N'Zoth and then lets the raid go from Wrathion, the first boss, straight to the Carapace and N'Zoth. It has been account-wide since patch 11.0.5 (wow.gg; a 2025 comment confirms it works on alts). A 2026 comment has N'Zoth dying in one phase in Midnight.

About 150 kills are expected at 0.68%, 100 at 1%; comments from the Collector's Bounty event of July 2025, when chances were raised, report it after 9 to 64 kills. Wowhead also records the mount in the Unclaimed Black Market Container (1 in 405), which is not a way of earning it.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
