Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Dropped by the Night Mare, a rare elite that runs around Dreamshrine Basin, just north of Hibernal Hollow in Ardenweald, and can only be seen and fought by a character holding a Dream Catcher. The Dream Catcher is made in three steps: loot the Broken Soulweb from the Cracked Soulweb by a broken cart west of Tirna Scithe, have Elder Gwenna in Glitterfall Basin repair it for 10 Lightless Silk, and have Ysera at the Heart of the Forest enchant it. Use the Dream Catcher in the basin (the buff lasts five minutes and can be renewed), wait for the Night Mare to come past and kill her. Any covenant.
Time there about 15 min a visit

Before you go
- The Broken Soulweb: loot the Cracked Soulweb, a wooden stick on the ground behind a broken cart on a ledge west of Tirna Scithe (19.7, 63.5). With flying it is a matter of landing on the ledge · about 0.2 h
- 10 Lightless Silk in the bags (not in the bank): the common Shadowlands cloth, looted from humanoids there · about 0.3 h
- Elder Gwenna standing in Glitterfall Basin (50.4, 33.0), where she turns the Broken Soulweb and the silk into a Repaired Soulweb; talk to her dismounted. She is only there once the basin's two quest lines from the Lady of the Falls (51.0, 33.8) are done, Trouble at the Gormling Corral and Tricky Spriggans, seven quests each · about 1.5 h
- Ysera at the Heart of the Forest enchants the Repaired Soulweb into the Dream Catcher; talk to her dismounted. A Night Fae character walks in to her; any other asks one of the guards at the ramp outside (about 47, 53) for an audience and she comes out · about 0.1 h
In all: about 2.1 h of play, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources
The journal's 'Drop: Night Mare' leaves out the Dream Catcher and everything behind it. The Dream Catcher stays in the bags afterwards, so the three steps are done once per character. Both Elder Gwenna and Ysera hand over the item only to a character on foot (many comments, 2020 to 2022).
If Gwenna is missing after the quest Outplayed, logging out and in brings her (a 2025 reply). The top comment names quest 57871 as the one that puts her there, and a second comment names the two story lines; both are covered by the achievement Sojourner of Ardenweald. Ysera's spot is 45.3, 51.1 in the top comment and 47.7, 53.7 in another.
Everyone who wants to see the Night Mare needs a Dream Catcher of their own (a 2020 comment). Leaving the basin or losing the buff puts the character back in the ordinary world; the buff can be renewed in combat. She is marked on the minimap as a rare inside the phase.
Where she is:
- Wowhead's guide (2020): 62.2, 53.9
- the top comment: 62.25, 53.97, the middle of her patrol
- Wowhead's tooltip: between 57.4 and 62.6 east to west and 48.2 and 57.8 north to south
- players met her at 58.99, 49.01 (2024) and 62.36, 52.68 (2026)
- wow.gg: 57, 49
She is not always up: players waited about 25 minutes for her (comments of 2024 and 2025), and no source gives the timer, so the 15 minutes on the spot are an estimate between finding her at once and a full wait.
Her abilities (named on the wiki, described in the top comment):
- Astral Charge
- Total Eclipse, a long cast that hits everything within 25 yards
- Cosmic Shower, which can be interrupted
It is taken as a certain drop: Wowhead's top comment (2020, rated 316) calls it guaranteed, wow.gg (updated 2026) says 100%, and Warcraft Tavern has everyone who took part receive it. Wowhead's own count is 1,693 mounts in 1,977 recorded loots of the Night Mare (85.63%); the rest is put down to characters whose account already had the mount, which was not confirmed.
Guides: Wowhead's guide gives the Night Mare one table row and sends the reader to the top comment for the steps; Warcraft Tavern's guide has them in full with pictures, and wow.gg's has the same steps under other names for the quest lines. The item binds when picked up and asks for level 45 (wiki); it was added in patch 9.0.2.
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
