How to get it

Rare drop from Ishak of the Four Winds, a rare elite storm drake that circles a lower spire beside the entrance to the Vortex Pinnacle in the south-east of Uldum, in the zone's Battle for Azeroth version (the one with N'Zoth's Assaults). He is there whichever of the three assaults is on, comes back 2 to 4 hours after a kill, and each character can loot him once a day.

Chance 2.98% once a day, so about 34 tries on average — Wowhead: 456 mounts in 15,287 recorded loots of Ishak of the Four Winds (read 2026-10-11), per looting player; its tooltip gives the same 2.98%. wow.gg says about 3%

Notes and sources

Coordinates are Wowhead's tooltip for Ishak (73.8, 83.4 to 83.6); Wowhead's guide gives 73.9, 83.5 and wow.gg 73, 83. He is a level 52 rare elite. He spawns outside the tower and flies in (a 2025 comment). The loot is personal, so everyone who tags him gets a roll (comments of 2025 and 2026 describe groups formed for that).

About 34 kills are expected at 2.98%, Wowhead's count for each looting player; commenters report anything from the first kill to 128 and 167.

The time on the spot is the wait, not the fight, and is an estimate: arriving at a random moment in a respawn of 2 to 4 hours means about an hour and a half on average, nothing when he is already up. A 2023 Wowhead comment by a player 90 kills in gives a respawn of roughly 2 to 4 hours, with sightings a little before 2 and a little after 4; the wiki and wow.gg say 2 to 5 hours. The same comment says there is one chance a day for each character, and that if he spawns just before the weekly maintenance and is not killed he is gone when the servers come back.

Is the patch 8.3 unlock needed? The sources disagree. wow.gg (updated 2026) says to finish the Visions of N'Zoth introduction first, from Magni's quest in the Chamber of Heart, and that Ishak will not appear without access to the assaults; the wiki's campaign page puts the first Uldum assault at the quest Surfacing Threats, the eighth of that chain, behind the Heart of Azeroth, Nazjatar and Essence quests.

Against that, three Wowhead comments looted the mount on characters without the unlock:

a level 120 with no assaults unlocked (2020)
a level 50 that had not done the opening quests and could not see the assaults (2022)
a level 70 that had never set foot in the Uldum of Battle for Azeroth (2024)

This guide follows the comments and asks only for the right version of the zone. No source read says how a character that has never done the chain comes to see that version, beyond Zidormi being there to switch. A character that cannot find him should do the chain.

Uldum has three kinds of assault (Aqir Unearthed, Amathet Advance, The Black Empire). Wowhead's rares guide lists Ishak under all three; he is the only Uldum rare in every one (wiki). wow.gg adds that he is there only while the Uldum assault icon shows on the map and that the lesser assaults change every three or four days. Whether Uldum is ever without any assault was not established, so no time window is set for him here.

Guides: Wowhead's rares overview (last edited 2020) lists him with his coordinates and the mount under each assault and is otherwise a list; wow.gg's is the one written for this mount.
