Rare drop from Rotfeaster, a rare vulture east of the Obelisk of the Stars in the north-east of Uldum. It is only there in the Battle for Azeroth version of the zone while the Amathet assault, Amathet Advance, is the one running. It comes back about every 40 to 90 minutes, and each character has one chance at the mount a day.
Chance 3.36% once a day, so about 30 tries on average — Wowhead (read 2026-10-11): 349 mounts in 10,398 recorded loots of Rotfeaster (3.36%); the item's tooltip shows the same 3.36%. The count is per looting player and pooled since patch 8.3 (January 2020)

Guide Wowhead: Visions of N'Zoth Assaults Guide - Uldum and Vale of Eternal Blossoms Invasions
Before you go
- The Visions of N'Zoth assaults unlocked in Uldum: Nazjatar's opening quests, Magni's Heart of Azeroth quests in the Chamber of Heart, then the patch 8.3 chain as far as the first assault on Uldum · about 3 h
- Amathet Advance has to be the assault running in Uldum. Lesser assaults last three and a half days and change at the weekly reset and once mid-week; Uldum's can also be the aqir one or the week-long Black Empire one, and Rotfeaster is absent during both · 2 weeks
In all: about 3 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.

- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Caverns of Time*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Coordinates: Wowhead's tooltip has 68.0-68.6, 31.4-32.0; comments give 68.23, 31.97 and 68.59, 32.04. Uldum has to be in its present-day state: Zidormi in Ramkahen (56.0, 35.2, wiki) switches a character between it and the zone as it was before the assaults. The confidence is medium because of the unlock, on which the comments disagree (see the requirements above).
It has little health and dies fast, so late arrivals miss it; commenters ask for a group to be listed when it appears. Loot is personal (two of thirty got the mount in one group, 2020).
About 30 looted kills are expected at 3.36%. The lockout is per character and daily (comments of 2020, 2021 and 2023; hidden quest 57273 by the tracking macros posted on Wowhead's page for Houndlord Ren), so several characters can each have a try on the same day.
Respawn, by players' timings on Wowhead:
- ten spawns in 2021 came 39 to 85 minutes apart (rated +312)
- a three-day log of 2020 has 37 to 84 minutes
- a 2021 comment sums it up as 40 to 90 minutes
Longer waits are reported: over two hours in 2020, four hours in 2023, more than three hours in 2025 'when on other days he could show up in 20 minutes'. The time on the spot, half a respawn's wait and the kill, is therefore an estimate that can be well off.
A flying mount (wiki). Wowhead's assaults guide (of 2020, read in 2026) covers the rares, the schedule and the unlock. Uldum's other assault mounts are Corpse Eater's Malevolent Drone during the aqir assault and the Drake of the Four Winds from Ishak of the Four Winds during any.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
