Rare drop from Corpse Eater, a rare aqir drone in the western dunes of Uldum. It is only there in the Battle for Azeroth version of the zone while the aqir assault, Aqir Unearthed, is the one running, and each character has one chance at the mount a day.
Chance 1.22% once a day, so about 82 tries on average — Wowhead (read 2026-10-10): 337 mounts in 27,603 recorded Corpse Eater loots, the 1.22% its tooltip shows. The count is per looting player and pooled since patch 8.3 (January 2020); a comment of February 2020 has the page showing 0.5% then

Guide Wowhead: Visions of N'Zoth Assaults Guide - Uldum and Vale of Eternal Blossoms Invasions
Before you go
- The Visions of N'Zoth assaults unlocked in Uldum: Nazjatar's opening quests, Magni's Heart of Azeroth quests in the Chamber of Heart, then the patch 8.3 chain as far as the first assault on Uldum · about 3 h
- Aqir Unearthed has to be the assault running in Uldum. Lesser assaults last three and a half days and change at the weekly reset and once mid-week; Uldum's can also be the Amathet one or the week-long Black Empire one · 2 weeks
In all: about 3 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.

- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Caverns of Time*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Coordinates: Wowhead's tooltip has Corpse Eater at 30.4-30.8, 49.4-49.6; comments give 30.8, 49.7 and 30, 49. Uldum has to be in its present-day state: Zidormi in Ramkahen (56.0, 35.2, wiki) switches a character between it and the zone as it was before the assaults.
Corpse Eater comes back quickly: 2 to 18 minutes over five timings in 2020, 10 to 15 minutes over some 90 kills in 2021, so the ten minutes on the spot are an estimate for arriving at a random moment. Whether burning the egg-covered corpses around the spot brings it sooner is disputed in the comments: said to have worked when patch 8.3 was new, denied since, claimed again in 2025. A 2025 reply confirms it still spawns.
At 1.22% that is about 82 kills on average. The lockout is per character: the first kill of the day carries the chance (hidden quest 58696 by the macros in Wowhead's comments), later kills that day give nothing, and several characters can each have a try.
The confidence is medium because of the unlock: Wowhead's guide and the one old comment disagree on whether the patch 8.3 introduction is needed for this rare, and the level a character needs today was not found.
Wowhead's guide (2020) names Corpse Eater and the mount in its list of rares and explains the assault schedule: a zone has either the week-long Black Empire assault or two lesser ones of three and a half days each, changing on US realms at the Tuesday reset and on Fridays at 7 pm Pacific.
In the first days of patch 8.3 the mount was missing from the loot table and was added by hotfix, which is why the oldest comments report no drops at all.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
