How to get it

Rare drop from Anh-De the Loyal, a rare quilen by Mistfall Village in the south of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. He is only there in the Battle for Azeroth version of the Vale while the mogu assault, The Warring Clans, is the one running. He comes back about every 40 to 60 minutes and gives loot to a character once a day.

Chance 2.74% once a day, so about 36 tries on average — Wowhead (read 2026-10-11): 325 mounts in 11,846 recorded loots of Anh-De the Loyal (2.74%); the item's tooltip shows the same 2.74%. The count is per looting player and pooled since patch 8.3 (2020)

Before you go

  • The Vale in its patch 8.3 state: Battle for Azeroth world quests unlocked, the Nazjatar opening as far as the achievement The Heart Forge, then the patch 8.3 chain from An Unwelcome Advisor (the Alliance's opening quest; the Horde has its own) as far as accepting A Titanic Problem. The assaults themselves do not have to be unlocked for the mount to drop · about 3 h
  • The Warring Clans (the mogu assault) has to be the assault running in the Vale. Lesser assaults last three and a half days and change at the weekly reset and once mid-week; the Vale's can also be the mantid one or the week-long Black Empire one, and Anh-De is absent during both · 2 weeks

In all: about 3 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

Coordinates: Wowhead's tooltip has him between 33.4-34.8 and 67.4-68.6; comments give 34.1, 68.0 and 34, 68, on the present-day (patch 8.3) map of the Vale. The Vale has to be in its Battle for Azeroth state; Zidormi at the Seat of Knowledge switches it (see the Ivory Cloud Serpent).

The unlock asked for above is the short one of a 2022 comment ('the mount can drop even if you HAVEN'T unlocked the assault. All you need is to get the phase'); a 2024 comment on the Rajani Warserpent also stops at A Titanic Problem.

Each character can loot him once a day (hidden quest 57363, in tracking macros posted on Wowhead in 2020, 2021 and 2022), and only while the Warring Clans assault is up; the Vale's map shows which assault is active. Mid-week changes are Fridays 7 pm Pacific on US realms (Wowhead's assaults guide). About 36 looted kills are expected at 2.74%.

Respawn, by players' timings on Wowhead:

  • six spawns in 2022 came 42 to 60 minutes apart
  • two in 2021 after 50 and 58 minutes
  • four in 2020, 33 to 55 minutes apart
  • a 2023 comment says 40-60 minutes

The most-voted comment (2020, rated +100) measured one to three hours and showed that killing the mogu of Mistfall Village does not bring him out sooner, as some had thought; a 2026 comment still speaks of waiting hours. The time on the spot, half a respawn's wait and the kill, is therefore an estimate that can be well off.

He is also a pet hunters want (a tameable Stone Hound that keeps its name), so hunters wait for him too, and a 2024 comment says he is killed before late arrivals can get a hit in. When engaged he calls his master with a zone-wide emote ('Anh-De the Loyal calls for their master!'), and the master's swing is best stepped away from (a 2020 comment).

Wowhead's assaults guide (2020: the schedule and the unlock) is listed on the item's and the rare's own pages; two more Wowhead guides listed there, an overview of the assaults' rares and one of their rewards, were not read. A ground mount (comments of 2020). Wowhead says 2% of profiles have it. The same assault's other rares have mounts of their own: Ha-Li (Clutch of Ha-Li), Rei Lun (Rajani Warserpent) and Houndlord Ren (Ren's Stalwart Hound).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
