How to get it

Given to a Necrolord character on reaching Renown 39 with the covenant: the mount item is put in the bags, wherever the Renown was earned. Su Zettai, the Necrolords' Renown Quartermaster in the Seat of the Primus, also lists it from Renown 39, for 100 Reservoir Anima and 50 Grateful Offerings.

Guide Wowhead: How To Catch Up on Renown in Shadowlands 9.1.5

Before you go

  • Necrolord Renown 39. Once the covenant's first chapter is done, Renown comes a level at a time from covenant campaign chapters, callings, the weekly world boss, dungeon and raid bosses, Torghast, PvP wins and the weekly quests (Replenish the Reservoir, Shaping Fate in Korthia), up to the cap of 80; the campaign itself no longer has to be played for it. An account that has had a covenant at Renown 80 can buy the Broker Mark of Distinction from Au'Dara in Oribos for 500 gold, which sets the current covenant's Renown to 60 · about 6 h over 3 days

In all: about 6 h of play, spread over 3 days, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Maldraxxus · 50.7, 71.4
/way Maldraxxus 50.7 71.4
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 3.8 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
  2. Take the flight master to Maldraxxus
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 3.8 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
  2. Take the flight master to Maldraxxus

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

It is granted on reaching Renown 39 with the Necrolords. The journal and Wowhead's tooltip still show the first arrangement, a purchase from Su Zettai for 3,000 (the journal names no currency; a German guide, seen only as a search excerpt, reads it as Reservoir Anima); that is out of date. The wiki's Necrolord renown table says of Renown 39 'You will be granted this mount', Wowhead comments of 2021 and 2022 report it arriving in the bags on reaching Renown 39 with no anima spent, and a 2026 one has it appear on a Necrolord after a raid boss, which fits Renown gained from the kill.

Wowhead's sold-by tab and the wiki's Su Zettai page both list it on her at Renown 39 for 100 Reservoir Anima and 50 Grateful Offerings; what that listing is for when the mount is granted anyway was not established. The place given above is hers in case it has to be bought: her position from Wowhead's tooltip on the Seat of the Primus map (the wiki gives 52.69, 41.14), converted to Maldraxxus coordinates with the game's map tables.

Whether a character lifted straight to Renown 60 by the Broker Mark of Distinction is handed the Renown 39 mount was not established either. Wowhead's catch-up guide warns that no source of catch-up Renown is fully reliable and names the weekly world boss as the most consistent; it predates Midnight, and how quickly Renown comes today was not measured.

A character belongs to one covenant at a time. The mount is normally usable only by Necrolords; Renown 80 with the Necrolords makes it usable by every character of the Warband (wiki).

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
