Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Rare drop from Valfir the Unrelenting in the Mistveil Tangle, Ardenweald, for Night Fae characters only. A Night Fae whose Anima Conductor is at its third tier channels anima to Tirna Scithe, picks up the Sparkling Animaseed beside him and uses its extra button, Animaseed Light, to call Valfir and strip his Misty Veil; anyone may then join the kill, and every Night Fae who does can get the mount. He gives loot once a day. Elwyn, the Night Fae Renown Quartermaster in the Heart of the Forest, also sells the mount for 5,000 Reservoir Anima and 75 Grateful Offerings.
Chance 1.07% once a day, so about 93 tries on average — Wowhead (read 2026-10-11): 270 mounts in 25,273 recorded loots of Valfir the Unrelenting; 270 / 25,273 = 1.07%. The count is per looting player, runs from 2020 and takes in looters of every covenant, who cannot get the mount, so the chance for a Night Fae is higher and was never published

Before you go
- A Night Fae to call Valfir, oneself or somebody else: Night Fae campaign chapter 1, then the Anima Conductor in the Heart of the Forest raised to its third tier, Flowing Power, which opens the stream to Tirna Scithe (16,000 Reservoir Anima over the three tiers: 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000; 22 Redeemed Souls for the third on top of those for the first two; a day of research for the third). Bought from Zayhad, The Builder (38.6, 55.3 in the sanctum) and switched on at the conductor on the lower level. A Night Fae who only joins a kill someone else has started needs none of it · about 12 h over 2 weeks
In all: about 12 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Ardenweald 30.6 55 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
- Take the flight master to Ardenweald
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
- Take the flight master to Ardenweald
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Only a Night Fae can loot it: the journal, the wiki ('Night Fae Covenant characters can loot it'), Wowhead's guide and the comments all say so. Once learned, characters of any covenant can ride it (guide; 2021 comments). About 94 daily kills are expected at the recorded 1.07%, which understates the real chance; commenters report it after 18 and after 138 kills (2021).
Besides the drop there is a certain way, and which of the two the Planner should plan for is still to be decided, as for the Horrid Dredwing and the Phalynx of Humility. Elwyn, Renown Quartermaster in the Heart of the Forest, sells the mount to a Night Fae only, for 5,000 Reservoir Anima and 75 Grateful Offerings (Wowhead's sold-by list: 5,000 of currency 1813 and 75 of currency 1885). The quartermasters stand at about 48.4, 50.4 in Ardenweald (as given for the Autumnal Wilderling). The wiki's pages for the mount and for Elwyn ask for Renown 3; Wowhead's guide says 'No specific Renown level is required'.
The daily kill pays toward that copy: Valfir gives 3 Grateful Offerings a day, and once the third tier is built covenant callings give them too (guide). A 2022 commenter says offerings from callings and world quests buy the mount 'within a week' and calls farming the rare a waste; a 2021 one killed Valfir until the offerings sufficed. Grateful Offerings have been transferable within the Warband since patch 11.0 (wiki, as quoted for the Phalynx of Humility).
Whether the looter needs the stream too: the best-rated comment on the question (2021) shows a low-level Night Fae with 'nothing channeled' getting it, and the top comment (2020) says the others at the kill 'get the loot, just need 1 person who can pick up the item'; this guide follows them. The wiki says the seed is picked up and its button used on him; Wowhead's guide says the stream is needed 'to spawn Valfir' as well.
Valfir's Misty Veil gives him a 200% higher chance to dodge (guide); a 2020 reply says he can be killed with it up, only much more slowly. Wowhead's guide says every stream a tier offers can be opened each day; a stream costs 25 Reservoir Anima a day until it is reinforced (as given for the Winterborn Runestag and the Umbral Scythehorn).
Wowhead's tooltip has Valfir at 29.4 to 30.6, 55.0 to 55.8, and other sites give 30.6, 55.0 for him; the seed's place is a commenter's /way 30.45 55.55.
The daily lockout rests on the guide's 'Daily' reward line and a commenter 'killing Valfir daily'; no source states the loot rule outright. Dropped mounts could be learned below level 60 (2021 comments); the wiki shows level 45 on the item. The item binds when picked up.
Medium confidence because the guide is of 2021 and the newest comment on how it works is of 2022; nothing read says how the conductor behaves in Midnight.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
