Rare find in the Cache of the Ascended in Bastion. The cache appears at Aspirant's Awakening when the Ascended Council is beaten, and the council only assembles there after all five vespers, great bells at the five temples of Bastion, have been rung within five minutes of the first. Each character can loot the cache once a day.
Chance 4.89% once a day, so about 20 tries on average — Wowhead: 488 mounts in 9,986 recorded loots of the Cache of the Ascended
Time there about 10 min a visit
Guide wow.gg: Ascended Skymane
Before you go
- The five vespers rung within 5 minutes of the first: Courage (33.4, 59.8, south of the Temple of Courage), Loyalty (32.2, 17.8, Exaltation Rise by the Citadel of Loyalty), Wisdom (39.1, 20.4, a floating platform at the Eonian Archives), Humility (71.9, 38.9, behind the Temple of Humility) and Purity (64.3, 69.8, behind Purity's Pinnacle), then on to the council at 53.6, 88.0, which can be attacked about a minute after the last bell. All five reset together an hour or two after they were last rung, and a bell rung by anyone starts the five minutes for everyone · about 0.1 h
In all: about 0.1 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Bastion 53.6 88 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
- Take the flight master to Bastion
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
- Take the flight master to Bastion
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Once a day per character: two 2020 comments tested a second try on the same day and the chest did not appear, a 2021 reply says once a day per character, and wow.gg (updated 2026) says the same; more characters of level 60 mean more tries a day. About 20 daily tries are expected at 4.89%; commenters report 5, 7, 55, 64 and about 70. The mount can drop for more than one player at a kill (replies of 2020-2022).
The journal's 'Treasure: Cache of the Ascended' leaves out everything that makes the cache appear. No number of players is set, because the bells do not have to be rung at the same moment, only within five minutes. The guides written before flying say it takes a player at each bell (warcraftmounts; the best-rated comment, of 2020, says at least two or three people, or one's own characters parked at the bells). Since flying came to the Shadowlands, commenters report one player ringing all five in the time:
- about 4 minutes 15 in the order Courage, Loyalty, Wisdom, Humility, Purity (replies of 2021 to 2022)
- 3 minutes 35 with skyriding (a well-rated 2024 comment)
- under four minutes in the order Loyalty, Wisdom, Courage, Purity, Humility (wow.gg)
Bastion's own travel network of Anima Gateways shortens the legs for a Kyrian (comments of 2022-2023).
A 2025 comment says the bells come back an hour after being rung; older ones and both guides say one to two hours. A bell someone else has rung makes the rest a race, so commenters turn War Mode on or off to find a copy of the zone where they are fresh (2024, 2026). A 2024 comment was moved to a different copy of the zone mid-run and found the remaining bells spent. A character with the quest numbered 58787 in its log (the comment links it without naming it) never finds the Vesper of Loyalty up; abandoning the quest put that commenter in a version of the Citadel of Loyalty where the bell was there (2022).
The fight: five champions of about 150,000 health, each beaten at 15% (2020 comment; wow.gg). The cache only appears for a character that attacked the council (2020 comment). With full bags the mount comes by mail (2025 comment).
Names differ: wow.gg calls the chest the Ascended Hoard and the place Aspirant's Rest; Wowhead's object and the journal have Cache of the Ascended, and the zone-wide message quoted in the comments says Aspirant's Awakening. The place given above is the council's spot from the comments' waypoint (53.57, 88.01; wow.gg 53.5, 88.2). The wiki has no page for the council or the cache; its page for the mount says only that it 'rarely drops'.
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
