Sold by Cortinarius, the Marasmius quartermaster, for 5,000 Reservoir Anima once the character is Revered with Marasmius. He stands beside the giant mushroom Marasmius inside The Ring, the hub of the Night Fae transport network, which only a Night Fae character who has built the network can enter; the reputation comes from Marasmius's daily quests there.
Time there about 3 min a visit
Before you go
- The Transport Network built at the sanctum (tier 1, Nurtured Roots: 1,000 Reservoir Anima, 1 Redeemed Soul, 1 hour of research), then the six quests that open The Ring, from Aithlyn in the Heart of the Forest: Silence in the Stalks, Mushroom For Improvement, Ring Repairs, Fighting For Fungus, My Way or the Hyphae, Through the Veil · about 1.5 h
- Revered with Marasmius: 21,000 reputation, earned only from his daily quests in The Ring, one for each tier of the Transport Network: 350 a day with tier 1 alone (60 days), 850 with tier 2 (25 days), 1,500 with all three (14 days, 16 with the research). The hours and days here are for all three tiers · about 1.5 h over 2 weeks
- For the 16-day pace, the Transport Network raised to tier 3: tier 2 (Fun with Fungi) costs 5,000 Reservoir Anima and 8 Redeemed Souls, needs covenant Renown 11 and 12 hours of research; tier 3 (Blossoming Network) 10,000 Reservoir Anima and 22 Redeemed Souls, Renown 19 and 24 hours · about 5 h over 2 days
- 5,000 Reservoir Anima for the mount (Shadowlands world quests, raids, world bosses, rares of Zereth Mortis) · about 1.7 h
In all: about 9.7 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Heart of the Forest 55.3 26.4 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
- Take the flight master to Ardenweald
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
- Take the flight master to Ardenweald
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Only a Night Fae character can earn it. Wowhead's tooltip for the item reads "Requires Marasmius - Revered" and no covenant line; the wiki's page adds "Requires Night Fae Covenant". Either way, Wowhead's guide says the faction "is only accessible to Night Fae, as both the quest giver and the quartermaster are only present inside The Ring". Once learned the mount can be ridden by characters of any covenant (2021 Wowhead comment). The journal names only the vendor and the zone; it leaves out the reputation, the price and the covenant.
Marasmius is not listed in the game's reputation pane (comments of 2020 and 2026). The standing shows as a bar at the top of his dialogue window, or with /run C_Reputation.SetWatchedFactionByID(2463) as the watched bar (2025 comment), so the reputation check here may find nothing to compare with. The reputation is per character, not shared across the warband (2025 comment).
A 2026 comment calls the whole reputation a month's work and says the first thing to do is raise the network to tier 3. Opening tier 2 also gives some standing (Wowhead's guide), and Shadowlands Timewalking weeks give 50% more from the dailies (2025 comment). The tier 2 and 3 dailies send the character to the Deep Unknown and the Great Unknown through glowing mushrooms in The Ring. A 2021 comment warns to close Marasmius's window and speak to him again before starting a kill daily, or the kills do not count. Reservoir Anima is per character but can be moved between characters in lots of 1,000 with Traveler's Anima Caches (the same 2025 comment on the warband).
The Ring is not a zone the map tables know, so the place given above is the Fae Circle inside the sanctum, at the guide's coordinates on the Heart of the Forest map (in the north of the sanctum, in a room below the ramps to the flight master); any Fae Circle out in Ardenweald leads to The Ring as well. Cortinarius's place inside The Ring is not on Wowhead's map; a 2020 comment gives 56.0, 53.0 on The Ring's own map, beside Marasmius (55.4, 53.8 in Wowhead's guide). Wowhead's tooltip for the other Cortinarius (NPC 157710, the quest version) puts him at The Stalks, 29.4, 34.8 in Ardenweald, where the opening quests are done; the cave mouth there is at 30.5, 35.7 (guide comment).
Wowhead's guide dates from 2021; a 2025 comment says it all still works the same way. The same vendor sells the Enchanted Winterborn Runestag at Revered for the same price.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
