How to get it

Craft it at the mount forge of Protoform Synthesis in Zereth Mortis from Schematic: Vespoid Flutterer, 400 Genesis Motes, a Vespoid Lattice and a Wind's Infinite Call. The schematic stands high up among the Resonant Peaks puzzles, on the level of the Primus Locus; the lattice drops from the zone's wasps and the Wind's Infinite Call from Enhanced Avians.

Before you go

  • Cypher research timers: Aealic 18 h, Dealic 3 d 18 h, Sopranian 5 d 18 h, one after another · 10.25 days
  • Zereth Mortis campaign to chapter 3, which opens the Cypher Console, and 470 Cyphers of the First Ones · about 5 h
  • The quests that open the mount forge once Sopranian Understanding is researched: Finding Tahli and the chain after it (The Final Song), then A New Architect · about 1.5 h over 2 days
  • The schematic, at 50.3, 27.0 in the Resonant Peaks: it is on the level of the Primus Locus, so take a Locus Shift to the Primus Locus or fly up. Without either, climb with a displacement ability such as Door of Shadows: start at 50.4, 28.5, to the top of the broken pillar (50.2, 29.0), the top of the floating orb (50.0, 28.4), then the platform that leads to the schematic (50.3, 27.2). It starts Schematic Reassimilation: Vespoid Flutterer, handed in at the forge · about 0.25 h
  • 400 Genesis Motes (most creatures in Zereth Mortis), a Vespoid Lattice (the zone's wasps: Vespoid Workers around 50-52, 41-43, likelier from rare ones such as Feasting and Zatojin) and a Wind's Infinite Call (dropped by Enhanced Avians, the birds around 74-81, 44-59 by the Sepulcher of the First Ones and around 45-51, 59-64) · about 2.5 h

In all: about 9.3 h of play, spread over 10.25 days, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Zereth Mortis · 70.2, 28.6
/way Zereth Mortis 70.2 28.6
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.4 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
  2. Speak to Tal-Inara within Oribos to travel to Zereth Mortis
  3. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.4 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
  2. Speak to Tal-Inara within Oribos to travel to Zereth Mortis
  3. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The recipe is 400 Genesis Motes, 1 Wind's Infinite Call and 1 Vespoid Lattice (wiki, Wowhead's guide). The journal says only 'Protoform Synthesis'.

It shares the research gate of about 10 days and the forge unlock with the other Protoform Synthesis mounts, the Vespoid Lattice with the Bronzewing Vespoid, Buzz and the Forged Spiteflyer, and the Wind's Infinite Call with the Desertwing Hunter.

The Wind's Infinite Call binds to the Warband, is Unique (2), and has a low chance to come from an Olea Cache as well (wiki). Wowhead's guide says the rare reagents of mounts only start to drop once Sopranian Understanding is researched and the forge quests are done, so it cannot be gathered ahead; lattices that pets use too, the Vespoid Lattice among them, drop from the Dealic research on. The Vespoid Lattice's tooltip shows no binding, so it can be sold on the auction house; a mention only.

The Locus Shift is a device on each floor of the Gravid Repose that carries a character between floors for 30 Cosmic Energy, gathered in the Resonant Peaks. The option for a floor is opened by a rune (wiki), and how the Primus Locus one is opened was not looked up. Whether a character can fly in Zereth Mortis depends on the zone's own flying unlock, which was not checked either; the climb needs neither.

Guides give two spots for the forge: Wowhead's guide 68.5, 30.1 for the Protoform Repository, 'by a cave' in the west of the Arrangement Index; the place given above is the spot used for the other forge mounts in this guide.

A flying mount; the item binds when picked up and asks for level 10 (wiki). Wowhead's page for the mount itself was not read, so no player comments were read for this one.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
