Sold by Winaestra for 10 gold. Since Midnight she stands in Silvermoon City, west of the Royal Exchange flight point, and sells the classic hawkstriders there. A blood elf buys it outright; any other Horde race has to be Exalted with Silvermoon City first.
Time there about 1 min a visit
Before you go
- Exalted with Silvermoon City, unless the buyer is a blood elf: the Silvermoon City Tabard from the quartermaster Magistrix Nizara, worn in dungeons, turns their reputation into Silvermoon City's; quests in the old Eversong Woods and Ghostlands and the Argent Tournament also count · about 3.5 h
- 10 gold
In all: about 3.5 h of play, 10 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Silvermoon City 67.2 66 - Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Silvermoon*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Horde characters only. Same vendor and terms as the Swift Purple Hawkstrider. The journal, the item's tooltip and the wiki's page for the mount (edited 2025) still name only the old place, Eversong Woods (Burning Crusade).
The wiki's page for Winaestra (edited 2025) has her in the Royal Exchange of Silvermoon City in Midnight and lists the Swift Pink Hawkstrider at 10 gold in her Midnight stock, with the Swift Green and Swift Purple at the same price and the four plain hawkstriders at 1 gold; it gives no coordinates for the new place. The coordinates here and the wording 'west of the Royal Exchange flight point' are taken over from the Purple, Black and Swift Purple Hawkstriders: Wowhead's tooltip for the Midnight Winaestra (creature 254366, titled Stable Master) at 67.2, 66.0, and a 2026 Wowhead comment.
Wowhead's sold-by list for this mount was not read. For the Swift Purple it had the Midnight vendor at 10 gold, and also the old Hawkstrider Breeder at Thuron's Livery (creature 16264; 61.0, 54.6 by the wiki, reached through Zidormi).
The reputation rule is the wiki's (by default only blood elves; others at Exalted with Silvermoon City). Nothing read says whether the Midnight vendor asks the same, and it was not confirmed in the game. The reputation time is zero on a blood elf and on a character that is already Exalted.
The wiki has the mount at level 17 with Apprentice Riding since patch 9.0.1. No guide is linked: buying it takes only the standing.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
