How to get it

Rare drop from Sylvanas Windrunner, the tenth and last boss of Sanctum of Domination, on Mythic difficulty only. She is reached by defeating the nine bosses before her on Mythic that week, or the last of them alone, Kel'Thuzad, with the raid skip.

Chance 1% once a week, so about 100 tries on average — About 1%, a figure never published: the wiki's patch note for 10.0.2 (15 November 2022) says only "Drop rate significantly reduced", and about 1% is what wow.gg's guide and players on Wowhead give, none naming a source. Wowhead's item page (read 2026-10-10) lists Sylvanas Windrunner as the one source with no loot count at all (count and percentage shown as ??). While the raid was current it dropped every time

Getting there

Sanctum of Domination entrance, Desmotaeron (at the back of Helgarde Keep)
The Maw · 69.7, 32
/way The Maw 69.7 32
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 2.9 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
  2. Jump into the Maw from the Ring of Transference
  3. Ride the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 2.9 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
  2. Jump into the Maw from the Ring of Transference
  3. Ride the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

One try a week per character: Mythic has a single weekly lockout, and only the Mythic kill can drop the mount. About 100 kills are expected at 1%; players on Wowhead report it on the first, 17th, 18th, about the 33rd, the 100th and the 498th kill.

The raid skip: wow.gg (updated 2026) says four Mythic kills of Kel'Thuzad, the ninth boss, give the quest Sanctum of Domination - Damned If You Don't, which opens a passage straight to him past the first eight bosses, and that raid skips are shared across the Warband since patch 11.0.5. A 2025 Wowhead comment has it slightly differently: the first boss is killed, then the death knights there open the portal to Kel'Thuzad, and only once the trash around them is dead. A 2024 comment says the Shadowlands skips were not yet account-wide then. Which holds now was not checked in the game, and the wiki's raid page does not mention the skip.

The time on the spot is wow.gg's for a full Mythic clear (20-30 minutes; 10-15 with the skip) and depends on the character; the first kill takes longer for someone who does not know the fight (one comment speaks of over an hour).

The entrance is the game's own; the wiki gives 70, 32. wow.gg's shortcut to it: fly to 58.1, 62.5 in The Maw, climb the ledge and glide across. Flying is not possible in the Maw.

During the Collector's Bounty event of July 2025 the chance was raised; Wowhead's data then showed 2.91% observed for this mount, against the 5% advertised (a comment citing a Wowhead news post). The journal files this mount under World Event, which is wrong: it is a raid drop.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
