How to get it

A chance reward of the Escaped Wilderling event on Hope's Ascent in western Korthia, for Night Fae characters. A Night Fae plays the Alluring Drum on the ledge to call the wilderling down; it is fought until it is weakened (to about 15-20% health) and turns friendly, and is then mounted. During the ride the button Hold Tight is pressed at each burst of speed until the Tame bar is full. Every ride gives a Talon-Pierced Mawsworn Lockbox; now and then a Wilderling Saddle lands in the bags beside it. The saddle starts a quest of the same name, handed to Reldorn at Keeper's Respite (60.6, 21.0), who gives the Summer Wilderling Harness.

Chance Never published. The saddle is not looted from a body but put in the bags at the end of the ride, and Wowhead records no count for it: its page for the Escaped Wilderling has no loot table and its tooltips for the saddle and the mount give no figure. Players' own counts in Wowhead's comments: the saddle on the 1st, 5th, about the 15th, about the 20th, about the 50th, the 96th and the 118th ride; one commenter of July 2021 guessed 5-10%

  2. Take the portal to Korthia within the Ring of Transference*
  3. Ride the rest of the way

  2. Take the portal to Korthia within the Ring of Transference*
  3. Ride the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Only a Night Fae can play the drum and only a Night Fae is given the saddle; others can ride for the lockbox (wiki, Wowhead's guide, the best-rated comments of 2021). What comes is the Wilderling Saddle (item 187281, binds when picked up), not the mount: it starts the quest Wilderling Saddle (64528, needs level 60 and the Night Fae covenant), and the quest's reward is the Summer Wilderling Harness (wiki; 2021 Wowhead comments with a screenshot: the saddle appears beside the lockbox, not in it).

The ride counts once a day for each character (hidden quest 64320, wiki; comments of 2021 and 2022: the same character can call the wilderling again that day but gets nothing from a second ride). The event comes back about 10 minutes after it ends (comments of 2021) and is announced with 'Escaped Wilderling roars defiantly in the distance' (Wowhead's guide).

What does not matter, by the comments:

  • Renown (saddles at Renown 3, 7 and 21, one on a character with no campaign quest done)
  • joining the fight (arriving for the ride is enough)
  • how well the ride goes (saddles after rides with misses, none after many perfect ones)

The ride: 'Good' holds add 5% to the bar, 'Perfect' ones 10%, three Perfect in a row 5% more (wiki); pressing the button several times at a prompt fills it faster (comments of 2021). Dying on the ride sends the character to the Maw's graveyard; the body lies near 35.5, 32.2 in Korthia even when the map shows no marker (comments of 2021).

The event was broken for three days in November 2022 and fixed on the 18th; around then some riders found the bar nearly full at the start. The latest report found is of 2024 ('still drops', about 15 tries); nothing from 2025 or 2026 was found, so that it works unchanged in Midnight is assumed, not confirmed.

The mount is normally usable only by Night Fae characters. The notes for the Forsworn Aquilon found that Renown 80 with the covenant on some character opens that covenant's mounts to the whole Warband; that was not checked again for this mount.

Coordinates: Wowhead's tooltip for the wilderling (npc 180013, the one that is fought) has 33.2-33.8, 38.4-40.6, the wiki 33.2, 39.4 and Wowhead's guide 33.2, 39.6; Reldorn's place is the wiki's. There is no flying in Korthia. The event also counts for the achievement Conquering Korthia.

The guide linked (updated 2021) is a table of Korthia's rares with a few lines on each, not a walk-through; the detail above is from the wiki and from the comments on Wowhead's pages for the wilderling and the harness.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
