Notes and sources
The journal's cost of 1,000 is Stygia (wiki), and it leaves out the reputation. Wowhead's tooltip for the item says 'Requires Exalted with Death's Advance and the completion of the assault meta achievement On the Offensive'; Wowhead's Death's Advance guide lists the mount at Exalted, for Venthyr only, with the achievement, and the wiki's page for the mount says the same.
The achievement first asked for all nine assault achievements, then six from a hotfix of 24 September 2021 (wiki), and now four: Wowhead's tooltip for it says 'Complete four of the covenant assault achievements listed below', while the wiki's page still says six. A hotfix of 20 September 2021 made it account-wide (wiki), and the assaults are open to every covenant (guide), so it can be earned on any character; the buyer has to be a Venthyr.
Death's Advance has been a Warband-wide reputation since patch 11.1.5, and Stygia can be moved between a Warband's characters since then (Blizzard Watch, 2025). Before that a 2023 commenter had the achievement on an alt but could not buy that covenant's mount without Exalted on that character.
The nine achievements (guide):
- United Front
- at the Kyrian assault: A Sly Fox (find Sly once an assault, over three Kyrian assaults) and The Zovaal Shuffle (dance at five forges with a Mawproof Parasol while the quest The Ember Count is up)
- at the Necrolords': This Army (the quest You and What Army once with each of five champions, so five Necrolord assaults) and Up For Grabs
- at the Night Fae's: Krrprripripkraak's Heroes and Jailer's Personal Stash
- at the Venthyr's: Hoarder of Torghast (use fifteen items Fangcrack pulls out of the portal) and Tea for the Troubled; the tooltip calls those two Hoarders: Torghast Edition and Tea is Served
The guide gives the times as Tuesday morning and Friday evening on US realms, Wednesday morning and Saturday evening in Europe. An assault is four quests and a final fight with the Mawsworn commander, and pays 350 Death's Advance reputation.
The 14 days assume that the four covenants take turns in a fixed order, which was not confirmed. Confidence is medium because of that and because the reputation rests on amounts from 2021: nothing read says how fast it goes today, though a 2025 comment adds that bosses of the Sanctum of Domination raid give 125 reputation each on any difficulty, Sylvanas 625.
The Covenant Assaults guide does not name this mount (the Venthyr assault's own mount, the Harvester's Dredwing, is a chance item in that assault's War Chest and a separate matter); the Death's Advance guide does. The Kyrian, Necrolords and Night Fae have a mount each on the same terms from the same vendor (Battle-Hardened Aquilon, Battlefield Swarmer, Winter Wilderling).
The mount is normally usable only by Venthyr; Renown 80 with the Venthyr makes it usable by the whole Warband (wiki). Coordinates are Wowhead's tooltip for Duchess Mynx (63.4, 23.4), the top level of Keeper's Respite; the wiki has 63.3, 23.3. No flying in Korthia. The item binds when picked up.
