How to get it

Sold by Winaestra for 1 gold. Since Midnight she stands in the Royal Exchange of Silvermoon City and sells the classic hawkstriders there. A blood elf buys it outright; any other Horde race has to be Exalted with Silvermoon City first.

Time there about 1 min a visit

Before you go

  • Exalted with Silvermoon City, unless the buyer is a blood elf: the Silvermoon City Tabard, 10 silver from the quartermaster Magistrix Nizara, turns dungeon reputation into Silvermoon City's; the Argent Tournament's Silvermoon dailies also count · about 3.5 h
  • 1 gold

In all: about 3.5 h of play, 1 gold, starting from nothing.

From Orgrimmar about 1.1 min of travel

  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

Horde characters only. The journal and the item's tooltip still name only the old place, Eversong Woods (Burning Crusade).

Wowhead's sold-by list for the item has two Winaestras: the Midnight one in Silvermoon City (creature 254366, titled Stable Master, 1 gold), which is the place given here, and the old Hawkstrider Breeder at Thuron's Livery, east of the old city's gate (creature 16264, Eversong Woods of the Burning Crusade, 61.0, 54.6), listed there at 90 silver, presumably a price seen with a reputation discount. Wowhead's tooltip puts the new one at 67.2, 66.0, and the wiki has her in the Royal Exchange.

wow.gg's guides of 2026 disagree: its Purple Hawkstrider guide says she was moved from the stables outside Silvermoon into the city with Midnight, while its Red Hawkstrider guide of the same date still sends the player out of the southern gate to the old stables.

The old Eversong Woods is reached through Zidormi at the Thalassian Pass (wiki: 53.8, 8.8 in the Eastern Plaguelands), who offers to show Eversong Woods and the Ghostlands as they were in the Burning Crusade.

The reputation rule is the wiki's (her page and the Silvermoon City faction page: blood elves by default, anyone else at Exalted, with what the old Winaestra says when she turns a buyer away), and a 2018 Wowhead comment and wow.gg's guides repeat it. None of them says whether the Midnight vendor asks the same, Wowhead's sold-by list carries no standing for her, and it was not confirmed in the game; the Black Hawkstrider's notes, from the same vendor, came to the same result. The reputation time is zero on a blood elf and on a character that is already Exalted.

The quartermaster Magistrix Nizara also has a Midnight self in the Royal Exchange (Wowhead's tooltip: 69.0, 67.4, a few steps from Winaestra) besides the old one by the flight master in the old Eversong Woods (wiki: 54.2, 50.8). The wiki lists the tabard at 10 silver among her wares without saying which of the two sells it; Trellis Morningsun at the Argent Tournament sells it too.

The item needs level 10 (wiki). No guide is linked: wow.gg's for this mount lists the ways to the reputation but describes the old place.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
