Craft it at the mount Synthesis Forge in Zereth Mortis from Schematic: Darkened Vombata, 450 Genesis Motes, a Vombata Lattice and a Mawforged Bridle. The schematic hangs in the highest cage on a broken pillar in the Arrangement Index, reached by flying, by gliding across or with a displacement ability; the bridle comes out of the High Value Cache inside the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, on Normal difficulty or higher, once a week.

- The quests that open the mount forge once Sopranian Understanding is researched: Finding Tahli and the chain after it (The Final Song), then after a daily reset A New Architect. The forge is in the Protoform Repository (70.2, 28.6). Until this is done the schematic cannot be seen · about 1.5 h over 2 days
- The schematic, a Protoform Schematic lying in the highest cage on a broken pillar in the Arrangement Index, at 64.1, 35.6. Fly to the pillar (flying in Zereth Mortis is the account-wide achievement Unlocking the Secrets), glide to it with a Goblin Glider Kit from the wall at 63.4, 36.5, or cross with a displacement ability such as Door of Shadows or the cypher equipment's Dimensional Translators. It starts Schematic Reassimilation: Darkened Vombata, handed in at the forge · about 0.25 h
- A Mawforged Bridle from the High Value Cache in the Sepulcher of the First Ones (entrance at 81.0, 53.3 in Zereth Mortis), on Normal, Heroic or Mythic: kill the first boss, take the portal to the Ephemeral Plains, and kill Taskmaster Xy'pro while he has Security Override, which he gains from three or more stacks of Synergy when broker creatures stand near him. He then drops a Security Override Orb, which opens the cache before Artificer Xy'mox's room · about 0.5 h

Getting there
/way Zereth Mortis 70.2 28.6 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
- Speak to Tal-Inara within Oribos to travel to Zereth Mortis
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
- Speak to Tal-Inara within Oribos to travel to Zereth Mortis
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The journal says only 'Protoform Synthesis'. The recipe is 450 Genesis Motes, 1 Mawforged Bridle and 1 Vombata Lattice (wiki, Wowhead's guide).
The schematic is certain once it can be seen: Wowhead's count for the Protoform Schematic object has it in 1,345 of 1,345 recorded loots. Where it is:
- Wowhead's guide: inside a cage in the Arrangement Index, reached from a broken pillar
- 2022 comments: the highest cage, on a stone that has to be climbed, at 64.13, 35.67 or 64.2, 35.6
- a later 2022 comment could not reach it from the top of the cage but could from the large rock beside it
The guide's two waypoints, 'Glide from here' and the schematic, carry the same coordinates (64.1, 35.6); the glide point used here, 63.4, 36.5, is from a 2022 comment and wow.gg. Two 2022 comments say the schematic did not show until they changed realm, up to four times; whether that still happens is not known.
The bridle is the one part that needs the raid. It is shared with the Sundered Zerethsteed and the Mawdapted Raptora, so three bridles are three weekly caches; the Sundered Zerethsteed's notes have what is known about the cache's lockout and about the fight as it is in Midnight. By those notes the Olea Cache (700 Cyphers of the First Ones from Olea Manu) is a second source of the bridle at a small chance, and by the wiki a chance source of the lattice.
wow.gg's guide for this mount (updated 2026) disagrees with the others on several points and reads like a translation: it calls the materials Particle of Creation and Mawmetal Bridle, puts the cage in the Sepulcher of the First Ones area, and has the lattice coming from chests and world quests and the bridle from Olea's Cache. It is not linked.
The mount shares its research gate of about 10 days and the forge unlock with the other Protoform Synthesis mounts, and the lattice with the Adorned Vombata and the Curious Crystalsniffer. The forge's spot is the one used for this guide's other forge mounts (a 2022 comment gives 70.18, 28.60 for the mount forge). The raid is not given as the instance because the mount is made at the forge; the raid visit is one of the requirements. A ground mount; the item binds when picked up and asks for level 10 (wiki).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
