Mawdapted Raptora

Craft it at the mount Synthesis Forge in Zereth Mortis (70.2, 28.6) from Schematic: Mawdapted Raptora, 350 Genesis Motes, a Raptora Lattice and a Mawforged Bridle. The schematic is the part left to luck: it is a rare drop from the Mawsworn Hulks, the elite giants of the Endless Sands in the north-east of Zereth Mortis, and only once the mount forge is unlocked. The bridle comes out of the High Value Cache inside the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, on Normal difficulty or higher, once a week.

Chance 1.41% per try, so about 71 tries on average — The chance is that of the schematic from one Mawsworn Hulk; the craft itself is certain. Wowhead's page for the schematic (read 2026-10-11): 424 schematics in 30,001 recorded loots of the Mawsworn Hulk (npc 181412), its only source. The count takes in kills by characters whose mount forge was not yet unlocked, which cannot get it, so the chance for a character that qualifies is probably higher. Guide Wowhead: Protoform Synthesis: Eternity's End Mount and Pet Crafting System

• Cypher research timers: Aealic 18 h, Dealic 3 d 18 h, Sopranian 5 d 18 h, one after another · 10.25 days
• Zereth Mortis campaign to chapter 3, which opens the Cypher Console, and 470 Cyphers of the First Ones · about 5 h
• The quests that open the mount forge once Sopranian Understanding is researched: Finding Tahli and the chain after it, then after a daily reset A New Architect. Until this is done the hulks do not drop the schematic and the raid's cache does not give the bridle · about 1.5 h over 2 days
• The schematic: kill Mawsworn Hulks in the Endless Sands (about 28 of them between 60.8, 18.4 and 65.0, 28.8) until one drops it, about 71 kills at the recorded chance (see drop). It starts Schematic Reassimilation: Mawdapted Raptora, handed in at the forge · about 1.5 h
• A Mawforged Bridle from the High Value Cache in the Sepulcher of the First Ones (entrance at 81.0, 53.3 in Zereth Mortis), on Normal, Heroic or Mythic: kill the first boss, take the portal to the Ephemeral Plains, and kill Taskmaster Xy'pro while he has Security Override, which he gains from three or more stacks of Synergy when broker creatures stand near him. He then drops a Security Override Orb, which opens the cache before Artificer Xy'mox's room · about 0.5 h
• 350 Genesis Motes (most creatures in Zereth Mortis) and a Raptora Lattice, a low-chance drop from the zone's hawks; Wowhead's guide names Garudeon, Tahkwitz and the Grasslands Raptora · about 2 h

In all: about 10.5 h of play, spread over 10.25 days, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

The journal says only 'Protoform Synthesis'. The place given above is among the Mawsworn Hulks, where the luck is tried, and the time on the spot is one kill; the forge, the raid and the hawks are other trips.

Wowhead's guide (updated 2025): 'Chance to be looted off Mawsworn Hulk in the Endless Sands area', with the recipe 350 Genesis Motes, 1 Mawforged Bridle and 1 Raptora Lattice, which the wiki's page for the mount also gives; the wiki's pages for the schematic and for the hulk say the same of the drop without a figure. The hulks' positions are Wowhead's tooltip for npc 181412, 28 of them; the place given is one near the middle.

From the comments on the schematic's page:

• it dropped for players grouped in a party and in a raid group (2022)
• npc 184767, a look-alike, does not drop it (2024)
• some say Pocopoc has to be out, which nobody tested

While the world quest Feed the Annelids (quest 64960) or the daily Automa Ops is up, the quest's Irresistible Goop thrown at a hulk halves its strength, which mattered when the zone was current. 2025 comments notice that after the first round of kills the hulks drop only some 50 silver and no key fragments, as if their loot were throttled; two players got the schematic in that state all the same (one after 191 more kills), so there is no need to stop. The hulks also drop Sandworn Chest Key Fragments, of no use here.

The bridle is shared with the Darkened Vombata and the Sundered Zerethsteed, so three bridles are three weekly caches. It binds to the Warband, and the Sundered Zerethsteed's notes have what is known about the cache's lockout, about the fight as it is in Midnight, and about the Olea Cache as a second source at a small chance.

The mount shares its research gate of about 10 days and the forge unlock with the other Protoform Synthesis mounts, and the lattice with the Raptora Swooper and the Desertwing Hunter. wow.gg's guide for this mount (updated 2026) agrees on the hulks and the recipe, but calls the forge the Forge of Afterlives and the bridle's source the Cache of the Moon and Olea's Stash, names found nowhere else, and says the lattice is not bound; it reads like a translation and is not linked.

The forge's spot is the one used for this guide's other forge mounts. The raid is not given as the instance because the mount is made at the forge; the raid visit is one of the requirements. A flying mount; the item binds when picked up and asks for level 10 (wiki).
