Rare drop from Breezebiter, a gnoll riding a slyvern in The Azure Span. He appears at the mouth of a small cave by the switchback path, walks out and takes off to circle high over the area to the west; he has no rare marker on the map. Wait at the cave, or fly close to him in the air to pull him down. He comes back one to two hours after a kill.
Chance 2% per try, so about 50 tries on average — Wowhead's NPC page: 140 reins in 7,002 recorded loots of Breezebiter (read 2026-10-10); the item tooltip shows 2%

Getting there
/way The Azure Span 29.8 46.3 - Take the portal from Stormwind to Bel'ameth*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Valdrakken*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
There is no daily or weekly lockout: Wowhead comments from 2022 through 2025 report several kills a day, each able to drop the mount, because he is an elite and not a rare. The wait is the respawn: one to two hours by most reports (one commenter who timed it gives 90 minutes on average; early reports ran from 20 minutes to 3 hours).
At 2% that is about 50 kills on average, and commenters report anything from the first kill to more than 400. Many check him on several characters or phases (War Mode, Chromie Time), each of which has its own Breezebiter. Only the first five players to hit him get loot (comments, 2022 to 2024). Characters of level 61 and 65 have looted it.
If he is already up he does not pass the cave again: Wowhead records him between 25.8 and 29.8 across and 44.2 and 48.2 down, a comment gives 27.0, 48.4 for the circle, and one lap takes about 1 minute 45 seconds (a 2025 comment).
Cave coordinates from comments:
- 29.80, 46.31
- 29.7, 46.9
- 29.80, 46.24
wow.gg's guide (updated 2026) agrees on the cave, the respawn and the missing lockout, but places him in the south-east of the zone and gives 'roughly 1-3%' without a source, so it is not linked. Wowhead has no guide of its own, and the comments on its NPC page are the best instructions. The wiki has no page for Breezebiter. The time on the spot is an estimate for one check and kill.
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
