How to get it

Reward of the achievement The Jailer's Gauntlet: Layer 4: finish Layer 4 of the Jailer's Gauntlet, the boss-rush wing of Torghast, Tower of the Damned. A run is eight floors, each a single room where elites and bosses come out of portals; there is no timer and no score, but the Tarragrue comes after five deaths. The mount goes straight into the collection (the journal's item, Sturdy Soulsteel Mawrat Harness, is not handed out). Torghast is entered through the portal at Ve'nari's Refuge in the Maw; the Gauntlet's door is at the far right of the wing entrances, to the right of the Twisting Corridors.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The journal names the achievement (15254, added in patch 9.2.0; progress is account-wide; 49% of Wowhead's profiles have it). Nothing ended it: it is an ordinary 10-point achievement in the Torghast category, not a Feat of Strength, and Torghast is still there (the notes for the Colossal Soulshredder Mawrat and the Colossal Umbrahide Mawrat found players in Torghast in 2024 and 2025). But no report from Midnight on the Gauntlet itself was found: the newest comment on the achievement is of 2023, and the newest on Wowhead's guide also of 2023 ('a cake walk' at item level 440 in patch 10.1.7).

Wowhead's guide was last updated in 2022, before the patch went live, and still speaks of four layers; its comments and the wiki have eight.

How a run goes (the guide):

Floor 1 starts with three orbs of Anima Powers
Floors 2 to 8 have a Broker
Floor 4 is a floor of rare elites only
Floor 8 has two or three bosses of the Adamant Vaults
a floor's exit opens when every portal has closed and everything is dead
the Box of Many Things does not apply
a death resets the boss

Layer 4 was the steep one when current (2022 comments: far harder than Layer 3, recommended item level 275), which says nothing about today.

Whether the door is shut without the quest was not established; allow a few minutes for it. Known trouble: the achievement sometimes failed to arrive after the run and came on logging in again or on a second run (comments of 2022 and 2023).

The place given above is the one this guide's other Torghast mounts use, Ve'nari's spot by the portal; Torghast is neither a raid nor a dungeon, so no instance is named, and there is no flying in the Maw. The time on the spot is one Layer 4 run, an estimate from the guide's figure. wow.gg's guide to this mount is not linked: it names the pet and toy wrongly and says the layers need not be done in order, against Wowhead's guide.
