Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Sold by Winaestra for 1 gold. Since Midnight she stands in Silvermoon City, west of the Royal Exchange flight point, and sells the classic hawkstriders there. A blood elf buys it outright; any other Horde race has to be Exalted with Silvermoon City first.
Time there about 1 min a visit
Before you go
- Exalted with Silvermoon City, unless the buyer is a blood elf: the Silvermoon City Tabard worn in dungeons turns their reputation into Silvermoon's; quests in the old Eversong Woods and Ghostlands and the Argent Tournament also count · about 3.5 h
- 1 gold
In all: about 3.5 h of play, 1 gold, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Silvermoon City 67.2 66 - Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Silvermoon*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Same vendor and terms as the Black, Blue and Red Hawkstriders. The journal and the item's tooltip still name only the old place, Eversong Woods (Burning Crusade).
Wowhead's sold-by list for this mount (as read in 2026) has two Winaestras: the Midnight one in Silvermoon City (NPC 254366, titled Stable Master, 1 gold), which is the place given here, and the old Hawkstrider Breeder at Thuron's Livery, east of the old city (NPC 16264, Eversong Woods of the Burning Crusade, 61.0, 54.6 by the wiki, listed at 90 silver). Wowhead's tooltip puts the new one at 67.2, 66.0, and the wiki says she is in the Royal Exchange.
The reputation rule is the wiki's (blood elves by default, anyone else at Exalted with Silvermoon City), and the wiki shows her Midnight dialogue as a plain stable master's. Wowhead's list carries no reputation standing for the new vendor, and whether she asks the same was not confirmed in the game. The reputation time is zero on a blood elf and on a character that is already Exalted.
From the Black Hawkstrider's notes, not read again here: the old Eversong Woods is reached through Zidormi at the Thalassian Pass, and the Silvermoon City Tabard was sold by the quartermaster in the old zone.
The item's tooltip lists every Horde race, binds when picked up and asks for Apprentice Riding; the wiki gives level 10. Wowhead's comments on the item are all from 2018 or earlier. No guide is linked: buying it takes only the standing.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
