Craft it at the mount forge of Protoform Synthesis in Zereth Mortis from Schematic: Heartbond Lupine, 500 Genesis Motes, a Lupine Lattice and a Crystallized Echo of the First Song. The schematic drops from the Maw-Frenzied Lupine, a wolf in the Choral Residium cave that can be killed over and over; the lattice drops from the zone's lupines; the Echo is a crystal picked up by the waterfalls near the Sepulcher of the First Ones.

The journal and Wowhead's tooltip say only 'Protoform Synthesis'. The recipe is 500 Genesis Motes, 1 Lupine Lattice and 1 Crystallized Echo of the First Song by the wiki's page for the mount (edited 2025) and by Wowhead comments.

The schematic (item 190585) binds when picked up, is unique, begins a quest and is dropped by the Maw-Frenzied Lupine at a 5.73% chance (Wowhead's tooltip). Wowhead's tooltip for the wolf (npc 179939) puts it at 52.4-52.8, 63.4-63.6 in Zereth Mortis; the wiki puts it at 53.1, 63.9 in the Choral Residium and gives no chance. Comments say no schematic drops until the forge is open, so the wolf cannot be farmed ahead.

Of the 15 comments on Wowhead's item page for the mount, the newest that bears on getting it is of 2022. Nothing was found on whether anything changed since, and none of this was checked against the game as it stands in Midnight.

The lattice: a comment names Vexis ('Lupine Prime', a rare elite) and 'most lupine'; the wiki says only 'lupines' and adds that an Olea Cache can hold a lattice. The Lupine Lattice is used by this mount alone. Serenade's notes have it from Wowhead's guide that reagents only mounts use start to appear once the Sopranian research and the forge quests are done, so it cannot be gathered ahead either. Comments say the lattice can also be had from other players on the auction house, a mention only.

The Crystallized Echo is Unique (3), binds to the Warband and can also come from an Olea Cache (wiki, edited 2024); how often a crystal can be taken was not established. For motes, a comment recommends the creatures around 61.6, 59.0.

The mount shares its research gate of about 10 days and the forge unlock with the other Protoform Synthesis mounts, and the Crystallized Echo with Serenade and the Curious Crystalsniffer. The forge: comments give 70.0, 28.6, and the place given above is the spot of this guide's other forge mounts (70.2, 28.6). Wowhead's Protoform Synthesis guide is linked as for those mounts (updated in 2025 by their notes); it was not read again for this one. The wiki's page for Protoform Synthesis does not list this mount at all. The item binds when picked up and asks for level 10; a flying mount (wiki).
