Colossal Plaguespew Mawrat

Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Looted, as Iska's Mawrat Leash, from Rhuv, Gorger of Ruin, the drake that the rare Iska, Outrider of Ruin rides in the Endless Sands of Zereth Mortis. Rhuv is fought first and Iska only after he is dead; the mount is in Rhuv's loot, not hers, so the character has to have hit Rhuv before he dies and loot his body straight away.
Chance Never published. Wowhead records 311 in 1,232 loots of Rhuv (25.24%, item page read 2026-10-11, and the figure its tooltip shows), which is far too high: the mount is the only thing in Rhuv's loot, so his body can be looted only when the mount is there and the kills that gave nothing are mostly not counted (comments of March and October 2022). Players' own estimates: 3-5% from raid groups of about 30 in which none to four dropped (February 2022), 'somewhere below 5%' (July 2023), about 1% (May 2024); single players report 35, 43, 71, 80 and 120 kills before it dropped or without it

Before you go
- Iska, Outrider of Ruin up in the Endless Sands. She is one of the three Dune Dominance rares, with High Reaver Damaris and Reanimatrox Marzan; one of the three appears at a time at no set hour, and only Iska brings Rhuv. By players' accounts a dune rare is set off by rares being killed and other activity across Zereth Mortis, so the wait is shorter where many players are in the zone, and it cannot be planned
Getting there
/way Zereth Mortis 63.2 26 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Oribos*
- Speak to Tal-Inara within Oribos to travel to Zereth Mortis
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Pathfinder's Den to Oribos*
- Speak to Tal-Inara within Oribos to travel to Zereth Mortis
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The two figures a plan needs are the ones that could not be established: the chance (left empty rather than given as Wowhead's 25%) and how long Iska takes to appear.
What is solid. The item is Iska's Mawrat Leash and it drops from Rhuv (wiki, Wowhead, warcraftmounts.com: 'Iska only attacks once Rhuv is defeated, and it is Rhuv that can drop the mount'). Rhuv's place is from Wowhead's tooltip (63.2-63.6, 25.4-26.6); wow.gg has 63.2, 26.0.
The mount is the only thing Rhuv carries: if his body cannot be looted there was no mount. If it sparkles, loot it at once, while Iska is still alive, because the body can vanish before she dies (a 2022 comment, +59, from a player who lost the mount that way; others looted it in the middle of the Iska fight). Rhuv has a daily loot lockout per character, separate from Iska's, so a character that reached Iska too late for Rhuv can still try Rhuv again that day (a 2022 comment, +33; replies of 2022).
Since patch 11.0.7 Rhuv dies in one blow as soon as he can be attacked (a 2025 comment), so getting a hit in is the hard part. A 2025 comment waits for the countdown on Rhuv's shield to end, one second more, then uses an area attack, and says the hit can be the player's own or a party member's; a 2026 player was tagging him with two accounts.
How the dune rares come up, all from players:
- killing rares in Zereth Mortis has a small chance, about 1% by one player's own count, of bringing one of the three (2023)
- a 2024 player with over 80 Iska kills holds that it is any activity in the zone, not a particular rare
- the same rare can come twice in one day (2024)
- there is no fixed order among the three (2023)
wow.gg says a dune rare comes every one to two hours on busy realms and can take over 12 hours on quiet ones, and gives a zone message as the sign ('A loud rumble rises from deep within the northern sands'); neither was found in another source. Commenters advise a rare-alert addon and looking in the group finder for 'Iska'.
The time on the spot is an estimate for one sitting, and many sittings end without Iska; it is the weakest number given here. Several collectors write that this is one of the mounts they have given up on (2025 comments).
Wowhead's Zereth Mortis rares guide (updated 2025) does not cover Iska or Rhuv at all, which a reader pointed out in its comments in 2022, so it is not linked; Wowhead's item page for the mount and its comments are the best source. wow.gg's guide (updated 2026) agrees with the comments on the tagging, the looting and the daily lockout; its '3-5%' is given without a source.
This guide's mount list files it under achievements, but the journal's own line and every source have it as a drop. Flying is assumed available in Zereth Mortis, as for this guide's other mounts in the zone; not checked. The item binds when picked up and is unique (wiki). Added in patch 9.2.0.
Confidence in this entry: low. Looked up in 2026.
