How to get it

Rare drop, as Fractal Cypher of the Zereth Overseer, from The Jailer, the eleventh and last boss of Sepulcher of the First Ones, on Mythic difficulty only. He is reached by defeating the ten bosses before him on Mythic that week, or, with the raid skip, only the last three of them: Anduin Wrynn, the Lords of Dread and Rygelon.

Chance 0.93% once a week, so about 108 tries on average — Wowhead: 87 mounts in 9,354 recorded Mythic loots of The Jailer (0.93%, read 2026-10-10). Wowhead's tooltip shows 0.57%, which is the same 87 mounts over the 15,151 loots of every difficulty, though only Mythic can drop it. Blizzard never published a figure

Notes and sources

One try a week per character: Mythic has a single weekly lockout, and only the Mythic kill can drop the mount. About 108 kills are expected at 0.93%. The mount lies in the corpse and does not go straight to the bags, so the boss has to be looted (a 2025 comment); a game master's reply quoted on Wowhead (2025) says only one mount can drop per kill, whatever the size of the raid.

While the raid was current the mount dropped from every Mythic kill; patch 10.0.2 ended that (wiki: 'No longer has a 100% chance to drop'). Players on Wowhead in 2025 and 2026 report it on the 1st, 9th, 10th, 17th, 30th, 103rd, 126th, 174th and about the 350th kill; the newest are of 2026. During the Collector's Bounty event of July 2025 the chance was raised (comments speak of 5%, and of doubting it).

The raid skip: the quest Sepulcher of the First Ones - Heavy is the Crown, from Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, asks for four kills of Anduin Wrynn, the eighth boss, and opens a way from the Vigilant Guardian straight to him. There is one quest for each difficulty, and a higher one opens the lower ones too (wiki). With it the run is Anduin, the Lords of Dread, Rygelon and The Jailer; without it all eleven bosses. Whether the skip is shared across the Warband was not established (this guide's notes for Vengeance cite wow.gg for raid skips being Warband-wide since patch 11.0.5).

The time on the spot is one player's: about 45 minutes for a full clear without the skip (a 2025 Wowhead comment); another, of 2026, speaks of 5 to 10 minutes with it. It depends on the character.

The entrance is from the game's own data; the wiki notes the instance portal sits off-centre from the main door. Full use of the Ancient Translocators comes with the quest The Pilgrimage Ends, in chapter 4 of Secrets of the First Ones (wiki); whether the raid itself asks for any of the Zereth Mortis campaign was not established.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
