Guide Wowhead: Primal Storms in Dragonflight - Objectives and Rewards

Before you go

  • 2,000 Elemental Overflow: it drops from almost every creature inside a Primal Storm on the Dragon Isles (two zones are under a storm for two hours in every three, marked on the Dragon Isles map), and also comes from the rares and treasures of the Forbidden Reach and from some Dragon Isles quests · about 1 h

In all: about 1 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

Mythressa, Sapphire Enclave
Valdrakken · 38, 37.4
/way Valdrakken 38 37.4
From Stormwind (Alliance) about 1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Valdrakken*
  2. Fly the rest of the way
From Orgrimmar (Horde) about 1 min of travel
  1. Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Valdrakken*
  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The journal shows the cost only as a number; it is Elemental Overflow (wiki, Wowhead's guide and comments). The currency has been Warband-transferable since patch 11.0 (wiki), so Overflow left on any character from Dragonflight counts. No source says the vendor asks for a level, a quest or a standing; she is a level 70 character in Valdrakken, so the Dragon Isles have to be reached.

Wowhead's page says the item is sold in Valdrakken and in the Forbidden Reach, and the wiki has Mythressa in Morqut Village as well. Coordinates are Wowhead's tooltip position for her in Valdrakken (38.0-38.2, 37.4-37.6).

The time is the weak figure and may be too high or too low: both comments are from Dragonflight, and no source from Midnight was found on how busy the storms are now or what they pay. A 2023 Wowhead comment says quests by then paid far more Overflow than at launch, and the Noble Bruffalon's notes have Forbidden Reach rares at about 500-1,300 each from 2023 comments, which would make a few rares enough.

Wowhead's guide (updated 2024) explains the storms: four kinds (Storm, Earth, Fire, Water), no set objectives, Overflow from the creatures; it names the mount at 2,000 from Mythressa. Its item page's six comments end in 2023.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
