Made by combining 50 Leftover Elemental Slime. The slime drops, none to five at a time, from the boss that ends the Froststone Vault Primal Storm, an event held in front of the Froststone Vault on the Forbidden Reach every two hours: kill five elite elementals around the entrance, then the storm's boss, who is Khirna Cragheart (earth), Fael'lin (fire), Han'thul (air) or Shukoro Rapidstamer (water) by the storm's element. There is no lockout, so every event counts.
Time there about 10 min a visit
Before you go
- The Forbidden Reach opened at level 70: Hidden Legacies from Kurazidaia at the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken and the quests after it (a later character can skip them at Kurazidaia) · about 0.75 h
- 50 Leftover Elemental Slime, all on one character (it binds when picked up): about 25 storm bosses at some two slimes a kill. The storm begins a minute past the hour, every second hour (odd hours on American realms and even hours on European ones by players' reports), and stays up until somebody finishes it · about 4 h over 6 days
In all: about 4.8 h of play, spread over 6 days, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way The Forbidden Reach 60 38.8 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Valdrakken*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Valdrakken*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
Guaranteed once the 50 slimes are in the bags; the chance is in the slimes, which is why the count of kills is an estimate. The journal says only "Drop: The Forbidden Reach", and Wowhead's tooltip for the mount has no drop figure because the mount item is made, not looted. The slime is not shared by the Warband.
The wiki has 60.1, 38.8 for the event and Wowhead's tooltip for Khirna Cragheart 60.0, 38.4-39.6. Be on the boss's platform when the fifth elemental falls: the boss has little health for a character at the level cap and dies in seconds, so a player still fighting the last elemental on the lower platform can miss it (comments of 2025 and 2026, both from The War Within).
Wowhead's loot data for the slime (item 204352, as of 2026):
- Khirna Cragheart: 4,120 of 5,396 loots
- Han'thul: 4,139 of 5,448
- Shukoro Rapidstamer: 4,223 of 5,597
- Fael'lin: 4,224 of 5,515
So about one kill in four gives none. The wiki gives 0-4 a kill; players report up to 5.
No lockout: the top comment (2023) says the bosses can be looted several times a day, a 2025 player logged seven kills with slime in one day, and others looted the same storm again on another realm through the group finder (2023); one early reply guessed at a daily limit per boss and nobody bore it out.
Timing: comments of 2023-2026 agree on a two-hour cycle starting a minute past the hour, odd hours for American realms and even for European ones (2025, 2026; it shifts by an hour with daylight saving time). Several players of 2024-2026 met the storm at other times; the explanation given is that an unfinished storm stays up on a quiet copy of the zone until someone completes it, though a 2026 reply thinks it now comes more often.
The storm also pays about 1,000 Elemental Overflow and a primordial stone or fragments (wiki). A 2026 reply is still farming it in Midnight; the newest full reports are of early 2026, shortly before Midnight. Wowhead's guide dates from 2023, calls the event Evolved Storms and gives only its outline and the quests that open the isle.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
