How to get it

Put together from six items found in the chests of the Zskera Vaults, the vault under Morqut Islet in The Forbidden Reach whose doors open with Zskera Vault Keys. The Strange Petrified Orb and the Scrap of Black Dragonscales make a Particularly Ordinary Egg; a Drop of Blue Dragon Magic turns it into a Magically Altered Egg; Everburning Ruby Coals into an Egg of Unknown Contents; a Speck of Bronze Dust into a Sleeping Ancient Mammoth; and an Emerald Dragon Brooch into the mount. The pieces turn up one after the other, in that order.

Time there about 30 min a visit

Guides Wowhead: Zskera Vaults in Patch 10.0.7 - How to Unlock and Explore · wow.gg: Mossy Mammoth

Before you go

  • The Forbidden Reach opened at level 70: Hidden Legacies from Kurazidaia at the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken, Return to the Reach and the quests Scalecommander Viridia gives after it · about 0.75 h
  • The Zskera Vaults opened on this character: Helping Hand and Claw, then Exploring Our Past from Morqut Village, then Zskera Vault: Az from Pathfinder Jeb at the cave. The vaults are per character · about 0.25 h
  • Zskera Vault Keys, one for each door: the opening quests hand over the first ones; more drop from the rares and Forbidden Hoards of The Forbidden Reach, and the renown envoys in Morqut Village (Cataloger Daela at 34.2, 59.8 is one) sell them for 50 Dragon Isles Supplies each. A whole vault is 28 doors; the players who report on the mount since 2024 needed about seven · about 0.25 h
  • The six reagents from the vault's chests, each combined with the last before the next will show. If a visit runs out of chests, the vault is new after the weekly reset · about 0.5 h

In all: about 1.8 h of play, starting from nothing.

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

The journal's "Drop: Zskera Vaults" hides the chain: nothing is rolled for, the six pieces are found and combined (Wowhead's guide and item comments, the wiki, wow.gg and Warcraft Mounts all give the same five steps). Where the pieces lie is random and differs from character to character and week to week; the wiki names Mysterious Chests, Hardshell Chests and the Locked Research Chest for the Speck. The half-made egg keeps in the bags or the bank between visits.

The entrance is a cave on the north side of Morqut Islet, north-west of Morqut Village, where Pathfinder Jeb lets the character in; Wowhead's tooltip puts him at 29, 53. The level asked is 70 as of Dragonflight; whether Midnight changed it is not confirmed.

The open question is time. When the vaults were new (patch 10.0.7, March 2023) the Speck of Bronze Dust and the Emerald Dragon Brooch could not be found in the four named vaults, which come one a week in the order Az, Ur, Ix, Kx; they only appeared in the unnamed vault of the fifth week (quest More Doors To Open), and a week in which the vault was not entered did not count. Comments of early 2024 still describe exactly that: five weeks, the last two pieces "guaranteed" once the unnamed vault is reached.

From the middle of 2024 the reports change:

  • both pieces from Hardshell Chests in Ix (two 2024 comments)
  • all six on a first-ever visit in patch 11.0.5 (October 2024)
  • a 2025 reply that finished in Ix, leaving and re-entering the vault between pieces

No patch note for the change was found, and Warcraft Mounts and wow.gg still speak of several weeks. This guide follows the newer reports and counts no days. If the last two pieces do not show, the old rule is the likely reason, and the way through it is to enter the vault and do its quest every week (four resets, 29 days).

Keys: Wowhead's guide (2023) knows only drops and the Sack of Oddities (2,000 Elemental Overflow from Cataloger Daela, a chance at a key); the envoys' direct sale for 50 Dragon Isles Supplies is from 2024 comments and from wow.gg, which dates it to patch 10.1.5. Inside, some chests sit behind puzzles that need something from another room (fire and frost rooms, the Arcane Watcher, chests cased in stone that a vial of Stone Dissolver opens): Wowhead's guide explains each.

Guides: Wowhead's is the fullest walk through the vault, but dates from 2023 and has neither the key vendors nor anything on the weekly order; wow.gg's (updated 2026) is short and adds the key price.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
