How to get it

Rare find in the epic Grand Hunt Spoils, the bag a character gets for the first Grand Hunt it completes each week. Grand Hunts are the Maruuk Centaur's roving event on the Dragon Isles: one runs at a time, for two hours in one place, and has six stages. The second and third hunts of the week give lesser bags that cannot hold the mount.

Chance 1.62% once a week, so about 62 tries on average — Wowhead (read 2026-10-11): 1,824 mounts in 112,265 recorded openings of the epic Grand Hunt Spoils (item 200468); 1,824 / 112,265 = 1.62%. The count is per opening player and runs from 2022. wow.gg's guide gives 'roughly 1.6%' without a source

Before you go

  • Renown 5 with the Maruuk Centaur, then the quest Call of the Hunt in the Ohn'ahran Plains, which opens Grand Hunts. The unlock counts for the whole account: other characters can then join hunts without any renown of their own · about 3 h

In all: about 3 h of play, starting from nothing.

Getting there

The Grand Hunt running at the time: it moves every two hours between 11 places in The Azure Span, the Ohn'ahran Plains, Thaldraszus and The Waking Shores, and a horn on the Dragon Isles map marks it. The place given is the central Ohn'ahran Plains hunt, Cloverwood Hollow

  2. Fly the rest of the way

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.

Notes and sources

About 62 weekly bags are expected at 1.62%, which is why players take every character they have: the epic bag is one per character per week (a 2022 Wowhead comment: "one of these per character per week"; wow.gg: "Grand Hunts are available to each character separately"), and a 2023 commenter got the mount in the second week after turning to alts.

The wiki's page for the bag (edited 2023) says it is given "for completing the Grand Hunt the first three times in a week" and lists the mount with "only the first spoils of the week"; Wowhead's contained-in list has only the epic bag (item 200468), and the top comment says "ONLY the epic version".

The 11 hunt places, with the wiki's coordinates:

  • The Azure Span: 38.6, 34.8 (west); 68.5, 27.1 (east); 68.8, 53.7 (south)
  • Ohn'ahran Plains: 82.8, 19.4 (north); 81.5, 49.9 (east); 61.7, 53.0 (centre, Cloverwood Hollow)
  • Thaldraszus: 50.8, 46.8 (north, Steelcliff Passage); 34, 65 (south)
  • The Waking Shores: 41.4, 78.9 (north); 69.7, 68.4 (east); 24.7, 92.5 (south)

Which one is running cannot be planned for; the place given is one of them, not the place to go on a given day. The time on the spot is an estimate for one hunt.

Each hunt lasts two hours and has six stages (wiki); wow.gg says the bag takes all six tasks and that progress is one's own. Commenters of 2023 and 2024 got the bag for being there at the end of a hunt (one "caught the last boss"), and several were given it for merely being in the area; how much has to be done is not established. For the Hunt Master achievement, Wowhead's guide says being at a hunt when its sixth stage is finished is enough.

The bag can be earned by a low-level character but not opened before level 60 (a 2024 comment); commenters of 2022 learned the mount at level 60 and 61. Where Call of the Hunt is picked up is not given. The item binds when picked up.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
