How to get it

Sold by Provisioner Aristta, the Azerothian Archives vendor at the Archives' headquarters by Algeth'ar Academy in northern Thaldraszus, for 20,000 Mysterious Fragments. No reputation is asked for. The fragments come from the Azerothian Archives' activities: the weekly quest The Big Dig: Traitor's Rest pays 5,000, and the Archives' world quests and further runs of the hourly Big Dig add to it.

Time there about 2 min a visit

Guide wow.gg: Explorer's Stonehide Packbeast

Before you go

  • Azerothian Archives opened: the quest To the Archives! (level 70, from an Azerothian Archives! scroll in Valdrakken), which leads to Eadweard Dalyngrigge at Algeth'ar Academy, and the introduction quests that follow it · about 1.5 h
  • 20,000 Mysterious Fragments: 5,000 a week from the weekly quest The Big Dig: Traitor's Rest, 500-800 from each Azerothian Archives world quest, and about 75-125 from the boss of each further Big Dig plus the tomes dug up there. Three weekly quests and about seven world quests make it · about 2 h over 2 weeks

In all: about 3.5 h of play, spread over 2 weeks, starting from nothing.

Notes and sources

The journal and Wowhead's tooltip show the cost only as 20,000; Wowhead's sold-by list (2026) and the wiki both give the currency as Mysterious Fragments. A 2024 Wowhead comment asks whether a reputation is needed and is answered no, only the fragments. Whether Aristta sells to a character that has not done the Archives' introduction is not established.

The place given is the wiki's. Wowhead's tooltip for the vendor (NPC 209192) puts her at 55.4, 51.4 on a small map of its own (its zone 13844, not matched to a name), and its location list also names The Azure Span.

The weekly quest's 5,000 is paid for the first completion each week on the account (wow.gg; a hotfix of 16 December 2025 restored it, wiki), so more characters do not multiply it, but the fragments can be moved between the warband's characters (wiki, since patch 11.0). The quest is taken from Eadweard Dalyngrigge, who stands beside the vendor (Thaldraszus 61.6, 31.3) and also at the dig.

The Big Dig runs every hour at half past at Traitor's Rest in the south-west of The Azure Span (about 27, 46); its timed part lasts nine minutes and ends with the boss Doomshadow. Tomes found at the dig are worth (wow.gg):

  • Dusty: 40-60 fragments
  • Preserved: 100-120
  • Pristine: 280-320

The world quests are said to refresh every 3.5 days (wow.gg); the wiki speaks of six a week.

Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
