The warlock's own first mount. A warlock has it on reaching level 10; riding it takes Apprentice Riding from a riding trainer. No item, vendor or quest is involved.

Notes and sources
No place is given because there is nowhere to travel for the mount: any warlock already past level 10 has it. The Dreadsteed of level 17 asks for this mount first.
The journal files it under quests and says only 'Class: Warlock'; there is no item. The wiki's page (edited 2025) says the mount is 'learned by leveling a warlock character to level 10', and its patch list has 'Now learned at level 10 (was 20)' and 'No longer automatically teaches Apprentice Riding' for patch 9.0.1.
The wiki does not say in so many words whether the spell arrives by itself or is picked up at a trainer; its last entry on that point is from 2004 ('No longer purchased at the trainer, but rewarded via quest'). The notes for the Dreadsteed read the same pages as automatic, and warcraftmounts.com says warlocks earn their base class mounts at levels 10 and 17. That reading, and what Apprentice Riding costs, were not checked in the game.
The Codex of Xerrath turns its flames green; that is a look, not another mount. Wowhead's page for the mount was not read.
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
