Sold by Necrolord Sipe, the Combatant Mount Quartermaster in Old Town, Stormwind City, for 1 Vicious Saddle. A saddle is earned in rated PvP while a season is running: wins at 1,000 rating (Combatant) or more fill the Season Rewards bar; the first full bar of a season gives that season's own vicious mount, and every further full bar in the same season gives a Vicious Saddle.
Time there about 1 min a visit
Before you go
- This season's vicious mount first: reach 1,000 rating (Combatant) in a rated bracket and fill the Season Rewards bar once (roughly 40 wins in rated battlegrounds, 80 wins in 3v3 or 240 in 2v2) · about 20 h
- 1 Vicious Saddle: fill the Season Rewards bar a second time in the same season · about 20 h
In all: about 40 h of play, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Stormwind City 76.8 65.6 - Fly there
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal.
Notes and sources
This is the Alliance mount (item 205246); the Horde Vicious War Snail (item 205245) is a separate mount. It is bought for 1 Vicious Saddle from Necrolord Sipe in Stormwind City; the coordinates are the wiki's for him (76.8, 65.6), the same as elsewhere in this guide.
The journal and Wowhead's tooltip still give only the old source, Dragonflight Season 2, when the mount was earned by rated wins at 1,000 rating or more. That season is long over, but the mount moved to the saddle vendors. By the wiki (pages edited 2026):
- the mount's page: bought for 1 Vicious Saddle from Necrolord Sipe in Stormwind City (Alliance) or Deathguard Netharian in Orgrimmar (Horde)
- Necrolord Sipe's page: the Vicious War Snail is in his stock of 25 mounts, each at one saddle
- the saddle's page: lists the Snail under Dragonflight Season 2
Wowhead's full page for the item was not read.
Saddles can only be earned while a rated PvP season is running: the wiki's page for Midnight Season 2 (edited 2026) gives its start as 18 August 2026 and its end as ongoing; that season's own mount is the Vicious Lightbloom Boar. The wiki's wording for the saddle: one each time the Rated PvP progress bar is filled to 100% after the current seasonal mount has been earned, several a season since patch 8.0.1. The saddle binds when picked up and asks for level 35 (wiki), and the vendor is an Alliance one, so the bar has to be filled on an Alliance character.
wow.gg says saddles can also be earned outside a season with 1,400 rating reached in the season before; the wiki does not say so, and it is not confirmed. wow.gg gives no win count for Solo Shuffle or Battleground Blitz, and the points a win pays today were not found written by Blizzard; the bar on the Rated tab of the PvP window shows the progress.
The guide linked is written for the Vicious War Ram and does not name the Snail, but the way to a saddle and the vendor are the same. The item binds when picked up and asks for level 10; a ground mount (wiki).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
