Look it up on WowheadHow to get it
Sold by Baron Sliver, the Azmourne vendor among the Time Rift vendors at the Tyrhold Reservoir in Thaldraszus, for 3,000 Paracausal Flakes. The flakes come from Time Rifts, the event that starts there at the top of every hour. The same item can also drop from the boss at the end of a rift and turn up in the rifts' reward boxes.
Time there about 2 min a visit
Before you go
- 3,000 Paracausal Flakes: 1,000 from the weekly quest When Time Needs Mending (complete one Time Rift), and from each rift 1-2 for every enemy, 30 for every task, 150 for the boss and the three reward boxes (20, 40 and 80). A rift starts every hour: ten minutes of tasks, then five to go through the portal and defeat the boss · about 2 h over 1 days
In all: about 2 h of play, spread over 1 days, starting from nothing.
Getting there
/way Thaldraszus 51 56.6 - Take the portal from Wizard's Sanctum to Valdrakken*
- Fly the rest of the way
- Take the portal from Orgrimmar to Valdrakken*
- Fly the rest of the way
/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The journal spells the vendor 'Baron Silver'; Wowhead and the wiki have Baron Sliver (NPC 208338, Azmourne Vendor), the death knight of the Shadow Vault. The journal's 'Cost: 3,000' is Paracausal Flakes: Wowhead's sold-by list has him at 3,000 of currency 2594, and the wiki and Wowhead's guide agree. The reins bind to the Warband. The coordinates are Wowhead's tooltip for Baron Sliver, the same spot as the other rift vendors.
Rifts are joined at Soridormi (51.1, 57.1); which two timelines a rift brings does not matter for buying. No source says outright that the vendors stand there between rifts.
The journal names the drop first; the purchase is the route given because the drop's chance was never published. Wowhead recorded 4 reins in 1,636 Greater Paracausal Chests (0.24%; the chest is the reward of the quest Realized Potential), and 2023 comments report it from the Box of Collapsed Reality. Wowhead's guide says every vendor item can drop from the boss of its own timeline, Azmourne for this one, with an Encapsulated Destiny from the weekly quest guaranteeing some reward from the next boss, not this mount in particular.
Sources disagree on the boxes: Wowhead's guide has them at 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 Temporal Essence, while the achievement Collapsed Reality asks for 7,500 and the wiki (as noted for the Felstorm Dragon) has 2,500, 5,000 and 7,500.
Comments on the guide worth knowing:
- the vendors and the event show only at level 70 (2024)
- on an account that has not finished the Thaldraszus story achievement Just Don't Ask Me to Spell It they may not show at all (2023; a 2026 comment points to a forum thread on Dragonflight content staying locked)
- the boss gives its 150 flakes and the weekly quest its credit only to a player who has hit it, and it now dies within moments (2025 to 2026)
Flakes also come from the dailies at Eon's Fringe and the dungeon Dawn of the Infinite (Wowhead guide and a 2023 comment).
Confidence in this entry: medium. Looked up in 2026.
