Getting there

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight
line and 30 seconds for a portal. A star marks a portal that needs a quest or other unlock done first.
Notes and sources
The time on the spot is the whole 15-step chain (an estimate of 3.5-5 hours with a written guide). It moves around the Dragon Isles, with one trip to Borean Tundra and one into the Karazhan raid, and ends at Tyrhold. The Northrend step goes by Moa'ki Harbor in Dragonblight to a statue west of Warsong Hold (Borean Tundra 33.5, 58.3), and the Karazhan step means clearing as far as the Curator to reach the Guardian's Library.
The Thinking Cap also takes:

- 5 Apexis Asiago (Gorgonzormu, Valdrakken)
- 5 Latticed Stinkhorn (Sniktak, Loamm in Zaralek Cavern)
Three toys earned on the way, the Tricked-Out Thinking Cap, the Torch of Pyrreth and the Idol of Ohn'ahra, are used in the later steps.
Wowhead's event guide was last updated in 2023, while the event ran, and still speaks of clues appearing day by day; the steps themselves stand, and a 2026 comment corrects one detail (in clue 7 the fourth brazier is in the second room on the left, not the right). By the comments under it the chain was broken for about a year after the 20th anniversary event of late 2024 (the Thinking Cap quest gave no toy, and some accounts could not start at all) and was reported fixed in April 2026.
