Rare drop from Kael'thas Sunstrider, the last boss of The Eye, the raid in the central ship of Tempest Keep, which floats off the east edge of Netherstorm.
Chance 1.7% once a week, so about 59 tries on average — Wowhead: 3,179 mounts in 187,121 recorded loots of Kael'thas Sunstrider (1.70%, read 2026-10-10; the tooltip gives the same 1.7%). The count is pooled over all years; the two raid modes Wowhead lists under it show 369 in 26,445 (1.40%) and 2,810 in 170,188 (1.65%). A wow.gg guide says roughly 1-2%

/way is for the TomTom addon. Travel times are estimates: flying at 55 yards a second in a straight

Notes and sources
About 59 kills are expected at 1.7%. The lockout is weekly and per character (wow.gg, updated 2026), so more characters mean more tries a week. The raid has a single setting, and no attunement or quest is asked any more (wow.gg).
Sources disagree on the other three bosses. wow.gg says the door to Kael'thas stays shut while Al'ar, Void Reaver and Solarian live; a 2025 Wowhead reply says one can run straight to him and still get the drop, and a 2026 comment describes doing just that.
The 10 minutes on site are an estimate: wow.gg says 5-7 minutes for the raid, and players mention a wait of a few minutes while Kael'thas's advisors and weapons play out before he can be killed.
Two Wowhead comments of 2026 say the drop chance has been raised; no statement from Blizzard was found. The only confirmed boost was the temporary Collector's Bounty event of July 2025, which is inside Wowhead's pooled count.
Wowhead also records the mount in the Cache of Timewarped Treasures (92 in 12,570 caches, 0.73%), the reward of the Timewalking raid quest. Icy Veins headlines, seen only as search results, tie that to Black Temple Timewalking weeks.
The lowest level that may enter was not established; the item asks for level 27 (wiki). The entrance is from the game's own instance-entrance table; wow.gg's waypoint is 73.7, 63.8.
Confidence in this entry: high. Looked up in 2026.
